I knew going in, decades ago, that a 2nd skin was necessary to survive.  Like Barbara Todaro, I've shed a few of them over the years and each one has been replaced with a new and improved version. 

Richie,  I feel I got the skin, lost it in a battle, gained it again, lost it and gained it again.  I do admit to getting knocked down but I get back up and keep on dancing.

Took emotion out of business years ago when in Corporate.  Some misbehave - they pay the price - not us...

I might disgress a bit on this one. A second layer may m,ake it more difficult to remain empathetic. Maybe just learning that hurt and disappointment never kill you might just keep you down to one layer witha good feeling.

I have gone through many challenges during my real estate career.

Over the years you do attain many layers, but there are still issues that pop up that sting.

Probably not, but definitely should. I took a break from it for a bit, so I could adjust and refresh. Now it feels invigorating again to use my skills and experience and it's fun again.

Gave up on that; I think I am on my fourth or fifth.

Skin like leather after all these years!

I learned to roll with the punches a long time ago. People will be people and I don't think anyone deliberately trys to disappoint me or let me down.

Good morning Richie. There are plenty of business that require a so called "second skin", but at this point I have a number of layers.

Still rather thin skin, but full of scars and bruises.

Even after 30 years and just about as many skins, I still get a tear in the armor and have to patch it up again.

I used to get upset for a buyer buying from another agent after taking hours of my time and expert advice. I used to get sad when a seller virtually worked with someone for higher price and lower commission - eventually expiring the listing.

Not any more! Professional and Personal - two different aspects - and yes, now I have the SECOND SKIN - which gets hurt sometimes, though.

Mine is kevlar by now. Interesting how the occasional other agent tries to lob stuff at me every now and again. Doesn't stick, bounches right off. Makes good skin.

I think if you stay in Real Estate any time at all, you get tough skin sooner than later.

Yes, then, after that explaination I have received several new skins.

I think I was given my second, thicker skin several years ago. 

By now, I'm on about my eighth skin.

Yes, and it's not going anywhere this time. 

Mostly so but sometimes the situation works it way all the way through that second skin. On days like that I know it is time for a vacation.

I think we have to have multiple skins.  New things come up and we readjust.

it's always been like water off a ducks back for me.  I've never taken it personally and I am good at dusting myself off and moving forward again.

Second this week and maybe 332 all time over the last 30 years. 

Oh yeah, Richie, it happened early on the only change has been the quality of my moisturizer. You gotta stay supple to stay in the game!
