Paul,
We have not gotten wrong email address or phone number except for one who gave us a fax number...We feel if that is their MO then we are happy to realize we are not a match, and we move on. A

I actually get a very low percentage of bad email addresses and/or phone numbers. But I would say, that I probably get slightly more bad phone numbes than emails.

When someone signs up on my web site it tells me whether or not the email and phone numbers are correct. Probably 20% are fake.

I've found that if you ask for the information after you have interacted with them, it's likely to be the real deal. And lately, I've noticed that people are pretty protective of their email addresses!

If there is no caller id on the phone, I ask for it. Also, I usually offer to email them something, a good reason to get it. Then I follow up, make sure they got it. If they won't go that far, I make a notation if my notebook. I certainly don't do anything for them if they don't even give me their name. No one gets on any kind of permanent list unless I have enough information.

We get a lot of that from the leads off our website. Although not nearly as many as a few ago.

For me it depends on the lead source. Typically my bogus leads have all fictitious info including name. My best leads even correctly input their current residence

Mostly fake phone numbers or no phone numbers at all. It is easier for individuals to set up separate email accounts to receive "spam" mail. It's difficult to follow up on these leads though to make sure they received the information they requested or if they had any questions!

Can't say that I have had that problem in recent years, but I have been tempted to create my own phony email to keep telemarketers at bay

No but then I dont use any forced leads, my clients come from sources who know that these people need me, or more often from the prospects themselves.
On the other hand when forced to give info at some site, where I really dont want to go onto a telemarketing list, like zillow, I have been known to give them an email number that I dont check often or a phone number that I also do not use often. and I am sure that many others do the same and many probably give false info as well when forced to give their info.
