It is not about fishing, it is about having an intelligent strategy in place, and talking to people based on that strategy. Talking to people is what many people forget because they are still lured by the promise of the river of gold that the Internet, Google, Landing Pages, SEO, and SEM promise.
You still have to talk to your referral sources, even take them out to lunch once in a while as a client of mine did every month. This landed her 2-3 listings and a buyer client regularly...

I don't but like Susan I have a unique business model. I work primarily from my sphere, my broker's past clients and an investor client. So far it has worked pretty well. I'll reach out and knock doors around my listings, but on a day-by-day basis I'm spending most of my time finding places for my investor to buy.

In my experience, it isn't solely a matter of talking to "new" people every day. It is a matter of having meaningful "real estate conversations" with a variety of people every day. They don't necessarily need to be new to you.
Specific to your target of $20M+, figure out the average sale price in your market. That will tell you how many sales you would need to make. From there, based on your success formula, you can determine how many daily real estate conversations you would need to have in order to reach your goal. I wrote a blog post recently about the formula.
