Ryan's bio is in what Ryan likes to call "The Omniscient Observer." This observer knows all about Ryan and writes about him and how awesome he is.
I like the third person/omniscient observer because it doesn't look like I'm bragging about myself and looks more like a professional bio, like you see at conferences describing the speakers.

All the experts say to write your bio in the 3rd person. It's more objective.

How many 'I's" are on the about page?

Maybe I mean 3rd person by the way. When it refers to saying something like "Michael is a blah blah blah", instead of " I am a blah blah blah"!
I need more coffee perhaps!

I think I am in the 3rd person - but I will doublecheck

Michael Thacker - Louisville Realtor And I have read/heard about having no 'I's!
I'd prefer 3rd person - and perhaps need to take a look at what I have online!

I wrote all my profiles from I AM brand. I could never get those ''she is bluh bluh''.

Mine is in third person. First person is more for individuals who want to connect personally with their audience, such as a blogger or an artist. Third person is used when you want to appear bigger, if you have a team or employees.

Michael - That is interesting information, and I will have to take that into consideration.

Yes, first person is the way to go, unless you are a team, then "We" is acceptable.

Mine is in first person singular. An article in a local paper announcing my joining a firm was in third person singular (prusumably someone else wrote it about me, although I was asked to do it).

My blog's about page is in first person. It's a much more informal space and is used to share my thoughts, experiences, and observations. I hope that it's friendly, warm, and comfortable. That would be rather weird and hard to achieve in the 3rd person.
My MLS-integrated website's about page will likely be done in 3rd person as that's generally accepted to be "more professional". Some feeling of "remoteness" is ok here I think as I will want that site to be about what the visitor can experience, learn, and choose, not about me. (Even though, yes, I know it's really all about getting them to choose me. :0)

Good question. I'll have to look, but I suspect it's in the 3rd person.

Good point Michael and I know I find it weird when I read one that is in the 2nd person. When you are asking for business it is you asking.

Mine is in the first person....it's I when talking about me....and it's we when talking about the office

Interesting, we have to watch out how many times we use the word "I" when writing in 1st person though.

every time i read a 2nd person rendition, i cringe. unless its a paperback as a biography.

Michael,
We edit the about page for all our clients and sometimes write them. We would not advise that you write them in the first person. It is off putting, and considered conceited. It has nothing to do with you being the brand. Your brand is not your name, it is not what makes you unique at all.
This is why we often say that trying to find you own brand is like doing your own brain surgery. It is comparable to someone who decides to sell their own house and does not know anything about selling or all that is involved.

I'm speaking to my audience, so I typically write in the first person. My ABOUT is in the first person on AR and elsewhere. I think my Linked In profile may be in 3rd as it was re-written by a Linked In expert trainer.
