I have a fitbit that doesn't work, but the company is replacing it for free, because it had a year warranty on it. The fitbit motivated me to exercise more. While walking I would check my steps and constantly strive to get to the next 1000 step level.

This is new information for me, but I have nothing to hide.

I did have an understanding about it, but only because of my 5 years in the HIPAA enforcement world at a hospital. Interesting fact, HIPAA stays with you even after your death!

There is actually a court case going on that I read about earlier this week where FitBit is being subpeonad for their data for a user as part of his personal injury claim. A personal trainer is suing claiming after his accident his activity levels have not been able to return to normal. A third party is reviewing the data and comparing it to a baseline for him and for trainers in his age group.
