Back in the stone ages when I did hold open houses I never allowed other Agents to host my listings.

In our market, it is common to have other agents in the same brokerage hold open houses. Proper preparation varies widely.

Yes.  They are provided the same detailed information that is available in the MLS and the documents attached to the MLS listing.

I often host for other agents, but I am VERY picky about the listings that I represent. 

I don't seek them out; however if they ask I always let them.

yes, we do let other agents in our office assist with open house events....and they are all well versed on each home they are hosting....

I don't ask as the majority of my clients don't want public open houses. If a new agent requests to hold a home of mine open, absolutely I help them prepare for it.

Yes,  They get a copy of the listing and disclosure statement. We brief them on certain details that they may need to know.

I couldn't cover all the listings I have right now - I prepare a cheat sheet for each listing so that other agents are up to speed on features, amenities, and where to put the signs.  Sellers like to know that anyone holding the house open knows all about it.

Debbie - I would certainly allow other agents to work my open houses if I was not interested. And yes, I would prep them with the details about the home.

Yes, if they are familiar with the competition and tour the property previous to the open house!

I prefer to hold my own open house events.   My job as a listing agent is to get that property sold.   

Occasionally I will and they are totally prepped on the property and what I expect.

We rarely schedule Open Houses these days and only when the seller requests them. Years ago we did have others from our office host them, and sometimes even showed them the house before he event.

Our inventory is quite low, and often have newer agents call/email asking if they can hold a home open.   Sometimes I do, and yes definitely have to provide them with details to sell the home.

I don't hold open houses as a rule. The majority of my listings are higher end so I hold by invitation only "Broker Opens" to showcase the listing 

With the sellers permission, I will audition my recruit-potentials through among other things, holding my vacant (only) listings open, yes. I pop-in and see how they do things unannounced. Therefore on the first one, unless it would cause issues, I do not prep them at all. I want to see what they do naturally. I only do this when I'm recruiting though. I'm not a fan of open houses anymore, the Internet and need pre-approved buyers has made them mostly irrelevant. If you are doing them to show your skills off to the neighbors for future listing business, I can see some value there.

It depends on the property and the agent. If it's the type of house that can sell itself (well priced, just like 5 others that sold on the same block) and there's a newer agent who could benefit from the experience I say yes. It's often a convenience for the seller to have the house held open during a 3-4 hour window rather than trying to juggle 6 different appointment requests on a Saturday afternoon. However if it's a property which really needs to be showcased, I prefer to do private showings or hold the open house personally.

I want the agent who is investing their time to be successful in the PURPOSE they apply to the open house.  If they have NO PURPOSE....then it will be a waste of time for all involved including the home owner.  'Showing the house properly' is the red flag of no purpose.

Yes, open houses are commonly shared around our office, anything to help each other out.

I will let another agent work with me but not for me. If it is worth holding an open house it is worth me being there.

Debbie Reynolds not a fan of open houses - however, if I have to, it will be me only - until I have a team working for me.

Typically I do not.  The last one to ask wanted to do one the Saturday before a heavily advertised Sunday open house.  That would have killed my OH, so no.

If there is anything special or unique about the house I'll go over it with them, but otherwise no.  And I don't let them replace my sign with theirs!

I've done it for other agents in my office when I was a brand new agent but I prefer to hold my own, however, I welcome others if they wish to shadow and learn.
