Mine is starting to decorate for Christmas... I have time then since I never cook on Thanksgiving.

Gathering of families! I can not wait for my son to come back from college.

No work. No gym. And no watching what I eat. It's the one day of the year you can spend with family, eat what you want, and just chill.

My favorite thing that I have done on Thanksgiving was to prepare sack lunches for the homeless and to deliver them. My only regret is that I have not been able to do it every year.

The whole family gets together and shares a great meal.

Chasing the turkey around the backyard. Whoever catches it, has to slaughter and pluck the feathers.

Going to my sister-in-law's! It is a 25 year tradition that wil end this year as the family will be to scattered to get together after this year. This one will be special!

Good morning Tammy. For me, it is all about family at our table along with have someone there that might not be so fortunate.

Tammy Lankford we celebrate Diwali (was last week) and the idea is to meet friends and family and distribute gifts/sweets - which is what I have been doing for whole weekends.

Tammy, sharing foods with needy people is my favorite Thanksgiving tradition.

Making my Mom's recipe for stuffing...brings back wonderful memories.  Whether we are hosting a large get together or small, I always prepare the family favorites.

I usually host a big Thanksgiving Dinner at our house but this year we are doing things a little different.  We will be at my husbands family on Thanksgiving and I'm having my family on Saturday and expect a big crowd including my sister who is flying in from Colorado to join us. All the traditional dishes plus a few new ones. 

Very nice.  Our only real tradition is that we go to a buffet with a wide variety.  We usually grab a mini-corndog and a bag of fritos from the kids buffet.  Just isn't thanksgiving without those, for some reason!

Spending time with my family and enjoying a traditional meal with the special guest of honor (turkey) roasted on a platter with all the trimmings! :)

I always cook a big Thanksgiving for family and/or friends, which I love doing.  Also, lots of football on Thanksgiving day.  

I love the idea of volunteering - I get the whole family for Christmas so it seems that Thanksgiving is less focused. This year we are going to Boston since my daughter can't come home for T'day because she is an Residential Advisor and needs to be at Boston College for the weekend

We eat out.  Just the two of us and we really don't do a traditional Thanksgiving.

Tradition:
Thanksgiving morning starts around 4 am.

Everything needs to be in place.

Apparel, Plan B and C in place, nourishment and beverages accounted for.

What can be done without if plan b or c is invoked?

So prepared, I head out to compete in the annual Turkey Trot races.

This year I am gunning for 6 miles in 48 minutes.

After that, it is regular Holiday fare navigating the hazards of in-laws and outlaws alike. The Turkey Trot gives them something to talk about besides their medications, malfunctions and gossiping about those not present....the latter is largely unsuccessful, unfortuneately.

We each share from our hearts some expression of deep gratitude, and by the time we've gone around the table you can feel the Thanksgiving.

Just having our family together is all the tradition that we need, though this year it will be delayed a while since two of us are working far from home this fall.
