Be thankful that the waiter is available.

Its a way to provide excellent customer service, because they asked you and all you can do is nod "yes". Brilliant! Just like us asking a happy buyer at closing if everything is good, instead of asking them one week after move-in.

I hate it when wait staff interrupts you in the middle of a conversation or a bite of food. Very unprofessional! Personally, if I'm not happy with something, I will let them know.

They are in the wings! And haven't thought about for a while and am sure will be keeping an eye out tonight.

Good morning Michael. That would be pretty dumb on their part, I would probably make them wait before answering.

I do not mind. They do their job trying to please you. I just nod and show a gesture that all is great ( if I do have my mouth full:) 

Michael - Happens every time I eat out. I think they all plan for it to be that way.

I think they wait.  My husband and I talked about that at dinner.

You are right...it always seems to happen that way. I just give them a thumbs up. 

It happened 3 times today when we were eating breakfast at a restaurant. It doesn't really bother me. I just try to smile and nod. It's better than them not checking on you at all. 

I know they are standing just waiting!

Having waited tables many times in the past I can tell you that I dont' think that they wait in the wings. On the other hand, it does always seem that they show up at "intersting" times.

yes, timing is everything....and most know how to time it soooo wrongly....

Not in the best restaurants, it shouldn't be a thing to check off a list.

I'd swallow then tell the waiter the food is fine (if it is) but the service is terrible.

We nod if we can't speak at that second.

I continue to chew and ignore them...

I just discussed this with a waiter a couple nights ago. We were laughing because my move when they do this to me is to stare at them, and calmly finish my bite. I'm amazed at how many just stare back. Why wouldn't they realize "bad timing" and come back in a minute or two. 

My bride and I have an agreement when out together, the full mouth ignores and the empty mouth responds. If we're both eating, then it's the "double stare " move.

I rarely eat out in restaurants. What I hate is if I enter a restaurant with Sandy, the dumass hostess greets us as 'Guys'. Last time I checked, Sandy is a Gal!
