Lise, my father taught me how to invest and then for the last 30 years I have done my own stock, drips, mutual funds etc. He liked Warren Buffett.

Lise Howe - My wife and I have a financial adviser that we consult with on picture things (retirement plans and long term investments) and bring her up to date every few years on our present status (like whether returns as forecast are becoming reality).  But being an accounting and economics major at university I follow some of the financial advisers. Charles R. Schwab and John C. Bogle are my favorites. 

 Good Wednesday morning Lise. Dave is based out of Brentwood, Tennessee and one I had an office in the cool Springs area I used to walk around Financial Peace every morning. He does have a house just outside of the Cool Springs area that overlooks Franklin, Brentwood and Nashville. I used to listen to him, it just got to be a rehash of the same old stuff. His principles are solid and I do it here to them.

If you listen to any one of these advisers you will still be selling homes at advanced age to regroup loss. You want to lead not to trail losers. When Obama is pushing his care, one should determine which insurance companies are leaders. When specific drugs are pricey you need to figure out generic pill companies.  Right now is probably the right time to explore oil stocks and dump Z.

Nope, I learned financial strategies and planning from my parents.

Lise, whenever I've read what any of the popular financial writers have said about something I am very familiar with (air travel and real estate) they've gotten it wrong.  So I wonder about the rest of what they have to say.

And I do like Warren Buffet.

Their true advice should be to make money, sell books, go on tv or radio and play on people's fear!

I'll not take advice from any of these people but only from those who truly have my own best interest at heart.

I have an adviser and do not listen to the rest of the supposed gurus!

I am basically my own adviser but I do have one for my 401K and IRA. For some reason I am very entertained by what Suzie has to say and her words have indeed guided me on several occasions.

I don't follow any of these "guru's." I make my own decisions. How do these people who make millions from peddling books and seminars know what my sitaution is all about?

Good morning Lise. Have always been a fan of Dave Ramsey. They refer us as well, so it is mutual.

Love Dave Ramsey.  Tony for mental strength and Oprah for inspiration.

I believe in the Dave Ramsey philosophy but have a financial planner and adviser, too.

Those first two on your list seem to be a little too much into the selling of endorsements, I dont really trust their recommendations.

We do not follow any of them ...we have a personal one that we really like ....
