We gave a complete weekend get away complete with in room massages etc. After checking much later we found out by the Hotel the gift was NEVER used. We no longer give closing gifts.

None... I don't believe in expensive closing gifts. At the end of the day, does your doctor give you a gift, or your lawyer, or your financial advisor or accountant for doing business with them.

I have never gone overboard on a closing gift. I stay within the guidelines of the $25.00. I treat everyone equally.
