Despite all the new trends that keep being announced I find buyers are still most interested in the tried and true, hardwood floors, granite, etc. Almost no interest in solar, “green”, etc.

Hmm?  Must have?  I have not noticed anything new.  As most things go, opinions vary on what a buyer wants, preferences, etc.

Tile plank trend is about 5-6 yrs old. While growing, hardwood is strongly preferred and will remain that way.  Porcelain planks are not that practical - slippery when wet and require floors to be flat.  They are most commonly chosen for small/wet areas e.g. mudrooms, some powder rooms and basements.

Rather, what's totally on trend and rapidly growing is:

1.  Open floor plans

2.  Gray - gray everything - paint, hardwood, tile, cabinets, countertops, carpet.  (of course not gray in all those places at the same time.

3.  His and her bathrooms for master

4.  Matte finishes

5.  Wide plank flooring, dark flooring

6.  Farm sinks

7.  Wainscoting, higher base molding, crown molding

8.  Customized closets

9.  Carpet runners for steps and upgraded banisters.

10.  MBR suites

11.  Wine cellars

Interesting, I don't think I've ever seen large laundry room nor pet room w/ was basin for pets...even in the big mansions.

We have always had many buyers want hardwood flooring, but now it is a completely upgraded kitchen, whether they cook or not.

His and her Master Baths - no more double sinks unless it is in a kids' bathroom.  And many are now looking for his and her Master Bedrooms too

Stainless steel appliances are still tried and true.  "Hardwood" plank porcelain tiles are very much in right now.  Luxurious baths with high end finishes are becoming more popular.

Out here quartz counters have replaced granite.  Stainless steel is still king.

Nothing new really, seeing less people want granite in kitchen and going towards other natural counter tops like quartz. Still hardwood floors also.

I am not a fan of those tiles that look like wood at all.

I am hearing buyers expect granite countertops, lofty ceilings, lots of hardwood, tile showers and covered decks and patios.
