I have had no side jobs but have also been in the insurance business, home building, apartment development, real estate franchising, cemetery operations , consumer finance, second mortgages and many other businesses during my real estate career.

Doyle Lee Austin Davison Iv I don't know how many have side jobs. I do know a lot of people come into this business with a full time job wishing to make the transaction when they get established.

Nope - this is it for me as well. I work overtime - my challenge is to become more efficient at what I am doing and free up some time for myself and family.

Like Raymond E. Camp I do two jobs and give both 100+%. My consulting business kept us financially sound during the Great Recession.

It's hard enough to sell real estate and write blog posts at the same time.

No side job for me. I feel it is better to work full time in real estate.

Doyle, I'm not sure my 24 year job as an engineer for a Fortune 500 company would fit "side job"! Real estate is my 2nd full time job, and between the two my spare time is pretty scarce. Bill

My other job is as a landlord for my rental properties. I also have the ability to teach firearms safety, disaster preparedness and computer security should I get asked to.

Doyle - I work part-time (seasonally) for the Los Angeles Angels during spring training and the Arizona Rookie League. I also work for the Arizona Fall League.
Most of these games are in the evening, so there really is no conflict. If not, I can usually arrange my schedule to fit the needs of my clients.
I do this purely for fun because I love baseball.
I really couldn't imagine working another 8-5 job and trying to sell real estate.

As I have had many careers and businesses and am looking at another to start. As long as you do both at 110% I have no problem; but don't use one to make an excuse for the other.

I've known many who do have secondary sources of income. Some consider Real Estate their Plan A. Some consider it their Plan B. I think it's great for people to explore the possibilities of expanding their horizons and also improving their financials as well.

I do RE consulting as well as rep buyers/sellers - not sure if that's a side job, but it's a different income stream.
I also volunteer a lot in the community and serve as a Board of Directors member for a couple entities.

Doyle I was pleased when I was able to give notice at my second job and be full time Real Estate. I do not have the energy or desire to work multiple jobs. Personally feel the more energy I put into RE the more money I can make here. Mark

I do real estate full time. I don't have another job or business. Although I'm thinking of starting a business, and I've been researching that.

I work full time plus 10-20 hours in real estate and also work on other projects unrelated to real estate. If you manage your time you can do many things.

Many agents took on regular jobs during the downturn in economy and now just do RE on the side.
