Charlotte several years ago. Slept in the baggage pick-up area. Not fun!

Not that often but a few years ago travelling back to Los Angeles from Washington DC, there was a layover in Chicago. It was so long that they had to find a new crew which stretched into early the next day.
I do get restless and a little bored but there's always something to do even if it's to catch up on some rest.

Years ago got stuck at the Chicago airport in the winter when the weather was icy and too much snow. Think I had a 4 hour layover. Watched a football game in the bar.

Yes and one time I left all my wallet with all of my ID and still got on my flight back home . I guess this was one those times I used all my skills as a salesperson to get through airport security.

On the first trip to Playdel Car in Philadelphia for eight hours; they kept saying another hour for a plane. Bought and read a novel.

Just last February and the delays lasted all day into the night. They would not let us stay in teh terninal but made us go to the baggage area where it did not look very safe, we took a taxi to a well known hotel and were back at the waiting again the next morning

Yes, a few times, but usually not more than a few hours. Sometimes I've done work, sat and talked and other times reading/puzzles.

The longest we've been stuck was 4 hours. We people watched, had a good meal and made some phone calls. It actually went by quickly as it was our last leg home and we didn't have to worry about another connection.

Joe Petrowsky Yes, it was due to a technical proplem with the plane. The airlines gave everyone on board a voucher for a meal at the airport restaurant. I had to wait for the next flight to DC, about three hours.

I've never had a flight canceled or gotten bumped, but I've had plenty of long layovers. I usually have plenty of reading material but find people watching fascinating.

Numerous times, sometimes overnight even. All you can do is read and try to find a comfortable place to take a nap. And occasionally write an angry letter to TSA (but you shouldn't send that letter - you'll have more delays.)

Once in St Louis, the airline put me up in a nice hotel! For shorter layovers, I usually have a nice meal or drink and read a lot. The San Diego airport now has a nail salon.

Not recently. One of our daughters got stuck at Heathrow, London during a snow storm. Disaster! We had to book her into a relatively local hotel from here, luckily found one; took almost two hours to get a cab (and 70 Pounds, that's nearly $140.00!!! for two young girls with luggage, for a very short distance, not to mention hotel room). Next day she and her friend got lucky - got to go to the US, Dallas, as it happened, when they were aiming for New York, but at that point it was "take anything that goes to the US!"; then LaGuardia, NY - they were still dazed and in shock, but feeling very lucky to be "home" when I picked them up. Others at Heathrow were camping out at the airport for several days.

Oh yeah, all the time. The couple of times I was laid over night so the airline put me in a hotel. Read, work, watch movies

Joe Petrowsky Many times. The longest was 5 days, when Suzanne and I were travelling from London to Atlanta on our way back to Phoenix. We were diverted to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Yes - it was 9/11.

That was the longest trip from India for us!
The flights were delayed by 12 hours and instead of Mumbai-Amsterdam-Boston, we were re-routed to Mumbai-London-Chicago-Boston for almost 2 days of total travel time!
Well, we enjoyed our un-planned overnight visit to Chicago by site-seeing!
It's how we take it, isn't it?

A number of years ago I was in the San Antonio airport when the entire airport lost power. Luckily it was afternoon but it was crazy with no PA system, no signage working, food service didn’t work, No lights in bathrooms. Airlines were using the old stairs rolled up to the planes to get people off and on. Fortunately it only lasted an hour or so.

Yes, in Charlotte. We arrived for a morning flight, did not take off till afternoon and then landed in Oakland instead of Los Angeles. Southwest took care of our hotel, and put us on the morning flight to LA. We both load our iPads with reading material...we reat a lot...then there was Paris...A
