my attitude toward MLS is that its purpose is to promote cooperation among real estate agents who belong to that organization.... its function IS to display the property and expose it to other agents.... period.

That is getting a bit controlling.
Ours just gave partial access to Zillow without getting input from all the agents.

Generate as much income from members and sell listing to Zillow so you have 3 or 4 other agents pretend they are agents on your listings....

Yes, they have.
I can not include in the description "30 feet from the white sand beaches."
I can not include in the description, "30 feet from playground where the kids can romp."
I can not include in the description "Professionally re-engineered to create a sophisticated, elegant entertainment space"
They have not only crossed the line, they have picked up and proudly wave about their STUPID sign and try to tell members it was OUR choice and when one raises their voice, the say "Shut up, it belongs to your broker."
The MLS is not the REALTORS friend but the oversight tool that controls them. The purpose of that control is to ENSURE the members do not create alternative selling strategies meaning, they, NAR retains their power.
But still I won't do business with the dark side.
I have no problem with the prime image being the street view. The outcome often looks like a lot of garage doors are for sale. That is though, what it looks like.
