It really depends on the house, the weather, the market, the area and if it is the first open house or not. So many different variables.
You can have a hot open house one week and the same house can be a dud the following week.
I put up as many signs as I see fit to bring in traffic. I do not provide food or refreshments, except for brokers opens and I typically don't do that on homes below $1 million. In my market, that price point is where expectations change and you need to "kick it up a notch."

No such thing as average.
We typically put up 5-8 signs plus a large flag on the front lawn. We bring comparable property sheets, sign in forms, sometimes bottles of water or snacks, branded pens or notepads.
But the number of people varies widely from 0 to 50. No rhyme nor reason. The same house can get no one the first week and 50 people the next week. We can get zero people at one house and 50 people at another house on the same day.
I get about 5 or 6 groups - I bring sign in sheets, snacks - put up 10 signs - offer my lender info and good service

opens are great for getting leads. 1.bring more than u think you will need. careful of leaving electronics around unsupervised. 2. try to bring a partner (lender) 3. as many signs as you can without violating ordinances etc 4. offer? a great house at a great price and my smiling face 5. if i posted and warned etc....weather permitting.. a bunch :)
Plenty of signs and other promotion, generally 6-10 guests, and we offer to send them info if they leave their contact info.
A great opportunity to meet new buyers and sellers.

Turnout varies depending on date, time and season.
Sometimes there are just a couple of people and sometimes 10 or more.
Activity has been down here in my market through the summer, though with activity picking up, I think Open House attendence will as well. This is how I started my business - hosting open houses to meet prospective buyers. New agents should make this a major thrust in their outreach.
Hi Chris-usually quite good with the typical percentage of lookieloos. Good lead generation mostly. I bring self branded bottles of water to serve, usually 5 signs put out.
