The temperature doesn't say so, but in my mind it is over, as I start looking forward to cooler weather and the fall.

Well I wear open toed shoes for as long as I can...often until Oct or so.  And, I love fall...esp the 1st half.

I don't allow the calender to dictate the seasons, and certainly not the fashion.  I remember as a kid, our new school clothes were almost 100% winter styles and we would absolutely swelter the first few weeks of school.  As much as I love Autumn, you can't rush Mother Nature!

 Good Thursday morning William. Although Labor Day is the last official holiday of the summer,  I do believe that it lingers on for another six weeks.

Good morning William. We are fortunate in the Northeast to have a full dose of all four seasons, look forward to all of them.

Not at all. Even though I live in the mountains and the weather can get cooler, summer isn't over until winter actually arrives and when that happens is up to Mother Nature. 

I remember one year when we were cooking out on Thanksgiving in shorts at 8200 feet. What a great weekend that was.

nope, not at all.  Fall gets here sometime in October or November. We run the A/C until then.  When I turn off the A/C and open the windows it's fall.

It'll be in the 80s-90s again tomorrow, so I'm going to go with "no".  It's still summer, or as we call it out here... FIRE SEASON!  Winter comes next and that's flood/mudslide season.  Add in earthquakes and riots and you have all four of our seasons!

In most cases it is, especially here in New England where the sun is setting earlier and the crisp autumn air takes over. Except the is heat wave may push it a little longer and i am fine with that. 

Yes I do. However, personally speaking nothing really changes for me. I guess the outtings with family changes but it terms of working less or more nothing changes.

Love Noah's answer!  Yes, summer has always been "over" post Labor Day with vacations complete and kids back to school for most. I am hoping that with that, the market will pick up....

My area seems to have a long history of immediately getting colder on the day after Labour Day.

I'm in California and don't feel the peak buying and selling season ending until about the middle of October.  We are slowest between Halloween & mid-February and then it kicks in again.  Some years the buying season never ends and others it will begin the first of the year.  Let's hope El Nino brings rain this winter.  That would delay buying season but help in the long term.

No, not in here. In my area, S.F. Valley, is going to be hot and sunny. Hopefully, no more 100s F.

William - My feeling is that summer does not end here until temps drop below triple digits. That is usually sometime in October, but sometimes in September.
