As I said the last time this question was asked, "I have never set foot in our Brokerage before and have never attended a meeting" There is nothing I can't read in an email. As an independent contractor, nothing is mandatory!

We do have a weekly meeting at my office to discuss events, to promote listings, to speak about specific buyer needs, and to talk about developments but they are not required. Of course, we are independent contractors, and the broker in charge is not able to require the meetings. Although this is the case, our attendence is HIGHLY encouraged, and if we miss our broker in charge always says, "I missed you this morning at the meeting."

My office stopped holding regular meetings a couple of years ago. Now they only have meetings if management thinks somethng of major importance comes up.

The office usually has monthly meetings. I don't know if it has ever had weekly meetings. Meetings are optional.

I am a small Brokerage. I do one on one meetings and yes, they are mandatory if they want to stay with me.

You can not have a mandatory meeting for someone who is not a salaried or hourly employee. We have large monthly breakfast meetings held at a different development monthly.

My brokerage has a total of 5 including the broker. We meet whenever there's something to discuss, but without any schedule.

My brokerage does not hold any meetings. As for mandatory... since we're classified by the IRS as independent contractors, any brokerage that calls their meetings mandatory should be paying your taxes IMHO. I think we should all keep up with industry related topics without the need to have them hand fed to us at in-person meetings. Not hard to do. As Susan Emo stated in her comment, any info or forms updates, etc. CAN be done by email. My brokerage sends out emails with the sort of stuff you mentioned almost weekly. They use one of those email services that tracks if/when an email is opened. Good for the management to know.

We hold them on a monthly basis. It is my understanding with independent contractors you cannot make anything mandatory.

Paul,
We held meetings weekly when we had our firm. They were short, and to the point and we held them outside of the office at a restaurant for breakfast Sometimes, it was after the 9 holes of gold Ron played with the guys, and we would have breakfast there. It was a time to catch up and maintain the flow of teamwork in our office. A

I know agents are busy this time of year, but we do have mandatory monthly meetings. It's a great time to go over any changes in our industry, find out what everyone is doing etc...
