Oh hell no I don't search out folks that have not blogged in a long time. If they have not posted on their blog in 1-2 years I don't even call them.
- Always check the Rain first.
- Always check to see if I can find someone I know and trust.
- I may ask someone in AR that is close to the area if they know of someone they would recommend.
Absent 1 - 3 above I search the Internet and start making calls. The one and only time I did this - it did not work out. The agent was let go. She just did not do the things she said she would do. Imagine that!?

I look for those I follow first. The current bloggers are more likely to get my call.

I select an agent I'm comfortable with and we each become very familiar with each other from our blog posts....

We seek out the person who can get the job done, not always an ar member.

If you do refer to someone who has been out of the loop for a while it may be wise to pick up the phone and ask them what they have been up to lately.
Many are out of business, others are just too busy to blog.

Joe, I give them a call to see how I feel about it, in addition to seeing what they are doing with respect to blogging. Sometimes life gets in the way of that, I ought to know. I have used AR to begin my search.

I would probably limit referrals to the members with whom I am very familiar. I would not spend time searching for inactive members.
For me, the most effective way to search for referral agents is to look for successful RE/MAX agents in the area.

Joe,
I always check the Rain, then I read their posts. If they have not blogged in a long time, I don't think that they are bad...I will call them and talk to them. If I am not impressed, then I ask people I know that are trustworthy. A

I have 2 Realtor networks. Buffini & Company & Active Rain. So...
- Geography of referral need determines first search criteria.
- I cross reference to see who's in both networks first.
- I've twice (recently in 2015) referred Active Rain members to Buffini members who needed to give a referral to a Realtor in an area Buffini didn't have any agents, but Active Rain came through; so I was able to match Buffini agent referrals to AR agents!
- I prefer to see active members in both networks, so for AR they need to be folks I follow or at least have been posting in the "referral year".

Look by state, county, city/community and if I can't find what appears to be a qualified referral, I have asked another member for people they may follow or know.
I have a found an irregular blogger for a referral -- you can still see how they approach business through their writing and comments followed by a conversation.

#1. Location
#2. On my list
#3. Active
#4. Talk to REMAX broker at location.
If there is no signs of life (active) I make no effort to revive them.

First criteria - location.
Second criteria - of the agents that are geographically desirable, which do we have a relationship with?

As so many were discouraged with the former owners and they were the only ones yes.

I don't have an issue with AR members who have not blogged in a long time on AR. In many cases, they have moved onto their own WordPress or other blogging forum, use FB, LinkedIn or more.

no - I would reach out to someone I felt comfortable with - a person with designations like CRS that showed experience and whose blogs showed market knowledge or negotiation skill

Good Tuesday morning Joe. Good question! I have reached out to people that I have not seen blogged in a while.
