Right underneat the title on the right hand side of a published blog is a link that says "Short url." If you click it, a web address that's shorter than the one in your browser window will appear right under the button. That short url can be used to post to Twitter, where limited characters are allowed, or to Facebook (for some reason, photos only show up for me when I use the short url). You also can see how many clicks you got on that social media by looking at the short url clicks column in the Stats table.

For each of the blog posts, there is a short URL (i.e. a condensed version...so it's not so long when you share on social media). You can find it under the title on the right side. So you can use it when you (or someone else shares on social media). It may be autogenerated if you use the share buttons.
The clicks from those are coming from social media shares.

Hey Jack Lewitz , every blog post has its own URL (link) which is very long, here's an example of a post I wrote: https://activerain.com/blogsview/5379644/top-ten-blog-posts-over-the-past-twelve-years. If you want to share that in your social media accounts, it takes up a lot of space. That's why AR also produces short links. That same article can be found at: https://activerain.com/droplet/5jJ6, a much shorter and easier to use link. I suspect AR provides a short URL click count so that you can know how much traffic you've driven to your post from your social media (meaning from outside of the traffic you receive from AR). That post I shared above has received 1,231 short url clicks. Considering the post has been seen a total of 1,399 times, I believe 88% of the views came from my social media shares. I hope this answers your question.

When posting our blog posts to other places like social media we have the option of using a short url, using a short url in particular places is a way to track how successful that media is at bringing people to your blog post.
Let me know if you need any help with this Jack and I can help.

As long as I've been in the Rain, I'm still trying to figure out how and why to use it. I've heard explanations, but seem to have a mental block on this subject.
