I am not really concerned about how others earn points. The management will get it all figured out and there will always be gamers. I would like some way to report people that are copying and pasting content. That is wrong and reflects badly on the site overall.

Bob Crane - we are here for two reasons - blogging for business and making friends. And points are for self-appreciation.

I admit - I like points and I work hard for that, I go above and beyond the limit set for rewarding the comments or answers. However, the purpose is - involvement. Points are by-product that keeps on motivating many of us, even when they don't agree!

And I hope that is not wrong.

I don't care how you earn your points, as long as I can earn mine faster...LOL

The only thing that bothers me is the robo-answers on posts...you know the ones "great post, thanks for sharing - have a great weekend".

Bob - I'm with you, I don't track how anyone else earns their points, wouldn't even know how to do it, and I really don't care. I enjoy this platform and the people on it. I personally feel that the points hold me more accountable.

I wandered to the newbie page one day and saw a few of the same people making the same comments to one newbie after another.  They were the same people and comments I got when I first joined.

It comes across as disingenuous to me.  Looking back, I feel silly for responding though I didn't know better at the time.

The people who consistently and habitually comment twice on a blog where it's obviously for points kind of bug me, too.

I don't care how others earn their points. I'm not here for the points...they are for fun, and I do set personal point goals for myself. I also think the points are just ONE reason this community stays so active. They appeal to our competitive nature, and real estate professionals are competitive by nature. 

I'm here for many reasons. I came here to set up a referral system for myself. That has worked for me. I've done a few referrals this year and AR made it easy for me to find an agent. I'm also here to get my name out there on google. That is also working for me. I'm also here to have fun and make friends. That is also working for me. 

I'm happy to call you one of my AR friends, Bob. 

i am brand new, so my view is eschewed , but i thought points were stupid at first. but i now think its fun. it also makes me aware to be a part of the community and to give back as well as receive

I focus on things I can control...blogging for biz and sharing social media tips with fellow Rainers. Thinking about, tracking, watching, or blogging about other Rainer accumulation of points (and how they got them) is a waste of valuable time (IMO).

Points, Schmoints. Who cares! The Q & A Section has added another level of relaxed interchange.

I don't care. Never have never will. Agents that are gaming the system for points.... congrats, you just won the Internet!

Points are irrelevant to me, except as a measure of how engaged we are with the other members of AR.

There are members who are point grubbers. Like everything in life, you get out what you put in. I'm not affected by them.

I don't do this for points--they are just a by-product. And I don't care what other people do to get their points--it's just not that impactful to my life!

 Good  Friday morning Bob.  as long as people earn their points fair and square I don't care. I don't like anybody gaming the system. To me, it is akin to cheating. I don't like cheaters.

Bob, I don't pay attention on other members activities to earn points. Sometimes, more activities help higher ranking with Google.

No Bob, I like the SEO for market reports sure but the friendships are invaluable. I have really enjoyed our conversations, how else would we have met?

Hi Bob -- this is a first world problem.  Points are an incentive for many and they are nice to "collect".   I don't care how others earn points.

The reason I keep coming back here has less to do with points and more about the things I learn and the relationships that have been formed plus the business that blogging has brought me.  

Good morning Bob. The points have nothing to do with why I participate with AR. When I first got started, I didn't even know about the points, they didn't matter then, they don't today.

Bob, I love this platform and would blog without the points system in place. I do notice the copy-paste commenting but pay little attention to what others are doing to drive their numbers up.

I don't' care so much about the points it is the information.   I also don't care how people get the points.

Quite honestly I used to do it for the points, now I just do it for SEO for my business and to learn, I lurk way more then I used to but I do thank AR for helping me get to be one of the top 1% in my board for units sold. Now to stay there...

Yes, some people are definitely point driven because they feel that being higher up in the rankings increases their leverage for referrals.  But to track other members point history I think is a bit obsessive.

Clearly you do care about how others 'optimise' their skills to achieve a goal. Is that not what learning is all about, the foundation of AR?

It is time to end this points babble and get AR to address the flood of spam coming out way. THAT just mignt prove to be important. Time to put the AMBASSABORS to work clearing the spam poo from the Q & A pool.

Bob there will always be those who seek a short cut to things and that includes points. The "point" i will make is they are only hurting themselves as the real reason to be active on Active Rain is to attract new business, new buyers, new sellers and by just playing games, they are missing the opportunity to build their business and increase their income. i myself love the points and it is what gave me motivation to rise to the top AR person in NH. 

I do not track how others earn points but I enjoy moving up the ranks. If you aren't competitive you are probably in the wrong line of business.

25 of the 30 transactions we closed were because we had more points than the #2 agent in the area.

I couldn't care less about points anymore.  Points don't bring in business.

At first when I joined active rain several years ago, I did, I wanted the SEO.....

now I do it as fun, and educational reasons.

Like you, it is none of my business what others do.  Gamers exist regardless of what one does.  I am with Debbie Reynolds about copying other sources post.  I have not seen any, and I agree with her, they should be removed.  A

I wouldn't say that "I don't care", I would say that if others are gaming the system, it would be a concern to me, but I wouldn't spend time worrying about it. 

I do care about how I run my business and the type of content I post for others to see. 

If I was so concerned about earning points, I wouldn't have time to earn any money. 

fun reading all of these. It is a rare person who didn't care about those points at one time or another if they are being honest with themselves. As much as I love AR and am a huge fan, back in the beginning the points kept my competitive nature coming back. Through time I came to appreciate the full value of AR. Do I like those that are blatantly abusing the system? Not really but honestly You will always have these folks. If they have that time to do it, then that is less time they are spending on their business so ultimately they lose what is most important.

Many us have Bob....you should know that better than anyone....

No...I want to learn.  I will check points some days...but not every day.
