The right people have a way of finding me. Not too many of my people discuss their own careers let alone mine. There are just too many other interesting things to talk about.

I am very proud of what I do. But I don't bring it up unless it comes up in conversation.

Absolutely. I think the secret is being interested and not interesting. When you can listen with compassion, people become interested in you and what you do. And I agree with Susan Emo there is so much more to talk about than real estate. A

Paul - I am very proud of what I do and who I am. However, I do not typically spout it out to everyone. I tell people what I do and if they want to hear more, I wait for them to ask me.
I know, I am horrible at sales, but I am excellent with my service.

I did get into real estate to help people. I know that sounds trite, but my husband and I had done a few real estate transactions together and none of them went smoothly and it was all because of the agent. It was never the seller. We also seemed to find motivated sellers that worked with us, and that's a good thing.
In our first transaction we got left with no place to live. We had been renting. Thank goodness the sellers let us move in and live there for the next six weeks we had to extend closing. Our cash funds were there, but the agent hadn't alerted the title company to the issue of transfering a trailer on the property. It's complicated, but the agent didn't follow through on the mobile we were moving into on this mountain property.

Yes, without a doubt! I insert what I do as soon as the time is right. I may start the conversation by asking others what they do...most times it comes back to me.

Yes. And anyone who want this profession should embrase the code of ethics and your state real estate laws.

We're both very proud of what we do.
Wayne has worked very hard to polish his elevator speech. We both wear our name tags and strike up conversations with people all the time. Listing a home this weekend from a man he met on line at Quick Chek.

Totally, Paul! If I wasn't, I shouldn't be doing it! Or I should be looking for ways to do it so I would be proud. But I don't start conversations by telling people I'm a Broker--it feels too pushy.
