Martin, that would be totally unprofessional and distracting. So no, I do not like that idea at all. Never. Maybe a if it were an extreme Luxury Mansion with it's own Movie Theatre, to play something with the volume turned off, just for show would be different though.

Good Monday morning Martin. Not much! I thought the whole purpose of doing the open house was to sell the property and generate leads.

Not too high, but then they will justify it by saying that the home viewers wanted to check on the game.
seldom a true statement.

Keep the sound on mute. I think it's great. There are some buyers that might want a sport update.I could see that in my area. I don't think it's something the agent should be involved in, though. You are there to sell the house.

I've actually had buyers come in and want to know "the score" of a game that was on. I generally check on my computer for them, but the game on wouldn't bother me. Ignoring guests... THAT would bother me.

The tv should be off. When showing a home I may put on instrumental music (NEVER any words as that changes the atmosphere), if it is convenient. The music is NOT a distraction, but can add to the ambience.

Martin - I'm with Gabe on this one. If the agent wants to watch the game when the home is empty, I guess that is how they choose to spend their time. However, if someone enters the home, the TV better be turned off, and all attention better be placed on the people entering the home.

It makes it look like they are not there for business. Now I do keep my computer on and may be checking out all kinds of things. I put it to screensaver when someone comes in.

That is just sad, the reason for an open house is to attract new clients as well as a buyer for the home. The home should be the feature, not the TV

That's not working an open house, and a sad waste for the owners and listing agent. That agent would never make it onto my team.

Very unprofessional, I agree that this sounds like someone you do not want to hire. The purpose of open houses is to get new clients, doesn't sound like he wants any.

We have all heard of incidents of teens holding "prescription parties", by going to open houses and stealing prescription drugs from the home. This is a classic example of why the agent needs to be on the alert and not watching tv or otherwise being distracted.

or....do they have it on for the Husband or the Wife who is a big sports nut. I like to bring a cd that has ocean scene and sounds on it. soooooothing. but the game is ok if the agent isnt watching at all. but if they walk in and they think the guy HAS been watching..not good

The TV should be muted or turned off as long as there are visitors in the house.

I don't mind if they watch a game, Martin. But not when customers are in the home.
