forget the designations, if you're new.... you need a good mentor....hang on to his/her coat tails and pay attention.....listen....listen to every conversation and every situation that happens within your office....I think I spend my first year listening....didn't open my mouth....making up for that now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most clients and customers are not familiar with the numerous alphabet soup designations, many which are easily obtainable for minimal effort.

Adam, the BEST designation for you depends one what you can exploit properly in your target market.

Example....located near army base...there are letters for that.

Seniors...there are letters for that.

You get the point.

Be aware, THE ONLY VALUE BUYING THESE LETTERS HAVE FOR YOU IS WHAT YOU GIVE THEM.

That means, the public gives not a whit about those vanity letters until you create value for them. Did you ever hear of the Milk Council before the GOT MILK commercials?  Go and do likewise.

As a new agent: none. Join the team or get a good mentor. Good luck.

Adam Elswick Barbara Todaro nailed your question. Get a good mentor to work with you. When you get the experience and time in the business, go for a broker's license. Everyone knows what a broker designation is today.

I would "Upvote" Barbara Todaro 's answer a dozen times if I could. A mentor is FAR more significant than a designation!

I found the GRI designation one that seriously "rounded out" my knowledge of the industry and business, because licensing courses sure don't teach much.
