Good morning Mike. To me, it is a bad idea to require information before allowing someone information. I require nothing and have a form available that asks for name, email address and phone number. I get lots of inquiries all the time.

Good Tuesday morning Mike. There are several agent sites that require this. An IDX system is not cheap.

Terrible idea to require visitors to enter contact info to search. If you do, many will bail on the site and NEVER return.
There are plenty of options to search all listings witthlout it and they are easy find. There are better ways to gather the contact information and generate leads.
Use a newsletter, free guides, CMA offer, etc. Offer something of value and you'll see people leaving their contact info.

I don't require the info unless they want to save searches.

On websites your broker gives you I think it's bad, you'll loose a lot of people that just go somewhere else.
Now if you have your own website, and I am not saying bought one from Agent Image etc., but built your own with Wordpress you can do some stuff to get a signup before they even see the homepage. They have Plugins to make a beautiful full page popup. Same concept Uber and most tech startups use to capture your email.

I don't like that idea at all Mike and wouldn't have it on my website.

Mike,
This idea has been debated back and forth. It is easy to click away to another website and get all the information you want. Some websites let you see a limited number of properties, and then require sign in. What the Internet is not lacking is information. Personally, we click away from any site that requires our information. I have even started to shop without setting up an account, because of the email flood that follows. A

We do not force anyone to register anything and we do not track them in any manner. I want them to take complete advantage of our website to search the entire SWFL MLS. The longer they stay and the more they come back the better it is for my ranking.

No, because there is always another site they can visit that will not require registration. Offer value, and the option of register

My last web site, I had it set where the buyer could look to their heart's content, but this new one, they can view three homes, and then need to sign in. I have picked up many more buyers now.
