We don't do open houses but when we did we didn't have a loan officer there.

I have and actually like it. It offers more credibility to the open house and a service to buyers.

Having a loan officer present might be a good idea in some situations but I should think that it would not be a good use of time for the highly successful loan officers that I like to use.

Not really. I tried that earlier in my career. In a way, we ended up competing for the attention of buyers.

It would not be typical although they have been asked to join in on on certain occasions.

I used to work at a new home development, so basically I held open house every day. We had a loan officer on site every Saturday and Sunday. During the week they were just a phone call away.

I don't but I think it might be a good idea especially if you are hoping to sell a home in a first time homebuyer price range.

We have had open houses with a loan officer present, but they are not always available.

It may be a bit premature to start qualifying them, especially since it may be a big waste of time for the lo to spend the day there.
Always good to have one on speed dial though just in case they are needed.

I do, just in case a potential buyer pops and in and had not gotten approved, pretty easy!

Have not done an open house in years, better ROI's on other activities. If a loan officer wants to spent time sitting at a house, sure keep me company. Gives me someone to talk too, however I wont ask one to be there.

They have offerred to be there, print flyers, etc. Which is fine, I simply dont "need" them there but a good opportunity for everyone involved. I love open houses, they may not always pay out immediate dividends but they add up, people meet you, see your name and you never know what you might get from conducting a free open house to the public.

Sounds like something the CFPB could investigate as a potential RESPA violation
