Don't do it, never did it, not going to start now... not my style of prospecting. But if I were to think about it, the safety issue would be of paramount concern to me.

I am against door knocking - I use as my gauge how I would feel if someone knocked on my door - don't like it.

I feel door knocking is safe depending on the neighborhood. I would never enter a home of  door I knock. I would set a time to return. That would give me time to do my homework and know a little more about whom I am meeting with. Time of day ... mid-morning, afternoon, mid-afternoon.  Never at night or when it is dark.

Michelle Grunberg I think there are two issues. One of safety and with both members of the family working, not many will be home during the day. I'm not in favor of night time door knocking. This week we've had three door knockers trying to sell me new siding, gutters tree trimming.

I've never door knocked and I can not stand it when people knock at my door to solicit me for something or the other.  I know what religion I want to practice, I know what flooring I may want to buy, I know what insurance agent I want to use . . . thank you very much!

No. I don't think that's a good idea. There's usually special instructions, or should be in the MLS to arrange a time to enter the Home and or via Supra.

No, I don't think it's a safe thing to do.  And, I think most people would be annoyed at uninvited solicitations.

I take another agent with me to door knock so I feel safer.  I like to go after 6:30 as most people are home.

I have known agents that had great success with it, I personally have never done it because like others have said I'd hate to have someone knock on my door and why would I do that to people.

In this day and age there are a lot better tools that target people you know are looking to buy or sell, focus on those.

I'm not inclined to knock on doors but here on Kauai yes, I think it's safe in most cases.

I agree with all of you. I feel it is a safety issue. Someone in my office believes it is a wonderful tool. No thank you!!!

Do it with another agent. We find that 4-7pm works best, however disturbing folks at dinnertime is not a positive start. Also Saturdays are the best day when many people have their garage doors open, and are doing yard work.

Door knocking is like calling someone on the do not call list. With so little privacy door knocking is intrusive and not time effective either.

Not my style. Too many people worried about kids being abducted, dogs biting someone, etc. I don't like people showing up out of the blue trying to sell me stuff or their services. That's a sure way to get me to never consider buying anything from them. It can be unsafe for agent and homeowner. Too many scam artist going around pretending to be from the gas or power company, then once they get inside, they rob, rape, etc the residents.
