Lack of communication and not staying on top of documents that are needed. I shouldn't have to beg for an update and they shouldn't be telling me last minute that something is needed or that we're behind schedule. I'm dealing with a due diligence period and need advanced notice to ask for extensions, though that should be a rare occurrence.

Those who fail to deliver promised results and those who fail to follow up on prospects should be avoided.

I work with AR member, Jason Gordon which minimizes pet peeves to rare. But when forced to work with others: Communication.
When they brag to the borrower they can deliver on date that we end up going way over. I wish they'd learn to buffer/pad dates rather than try to be a hero verbally and a let down in reality.

Brian Coleman Not all, but some are non-responsive to both clients and agents.

Cooperate with an agent in providing updated prequalication letters, when asked; rather than having Buyers request it directly, then send to you. Making things complicated it ridiculous and waste of time.

As a mortgage banker with over 45 years in the business, I can tell you that not calling your borrowers back within the hour can be critical. I can also tell you that the business as we knew even 5 years ago has changed to a point where Appraisers are afraid of being sued, underwriters are afraid to "let go of files" and the Federal Government has put it's feet where it does not belong. Yes, the costs, time and mounds of paperwork have all gone up. I have two sayings that I alwyas tell my borrowers. 1) I will not make a promise I cannot keep and 2) I will always tell you the truth and not what you want to hear. Within OUR industry there are people who should never be in it,and that my friends is the truth that many do not want to hear.

Communication. You can not reach many of them (since most of them work 9-5) and they do not answer/confirm emails.

They tell us want we want to hear, not what we NEED to hear. Don't sugar coat it --- tell us! And get back in a timely manner, not 3 days later please.

I work with a lot of agents and the biggest complaint I hear about other LO's is lack of communication, and overpromising/underdelivering.

Over promising and under delivering. I don't work with this type of mortgage and loan officers but quite often they are on the other side when agents present offers on my listings. This is when I derail them before they create havoc with a transaction.

Right now I am working with a lender that I have used for 12 years and he is awesome. But I have had bad lenders that do not call you back and will not call the client back. I had one that screwed up the good faith estimate that the buyer paid $2000.00 more at closing. I informed him I would not use him any longer.
