Now that's a legal question Evelyn Johnston - however, I believe it's going to be the location owner - though better be clear with the legal department.

I'd be double-checking the answer to that with an attorney. But my first instinct is that it's the venue who has to have liability insurance.

This depends on the third party location. If they don't have liability insurance, guess what? You may be next in line for sponsoring the event. For example, at a park? Was the injury forseeable? Your question can have many answers.

Both the person having the party and the owner of the location it is at. I had this happen and why i dont have them any more. In short on of my agents had a home built to die for as hosting get togethers. Every year i would invite my new and old clients to a giant bbq. One seller brings his new girlfriend, throws her in the pool later in the day, she hurts her knee and sued us all. Insurance settled without any input from us costing thousands in legal bills.

If you are hosting the party check with your insurance company.

That would be interesting to find out as I plan on doing some wine and cheese parties next month.

Your insurance company can help be sure all parties are protected. It is "x's" event, so they would probably be holder and named insured would be other parties hosting...best to get quick policy to cover potential issues. Good luck!

Obviously a lawyer should answer this question, but the owner of the location is likely liable. If you are the host you are exposed too. Anyone can get sued these days...

I think anyone connected with it would be pulled into the wide net principle. In other words, attorneys would say you were at fault and you would have to defend yourself.

Logic says the 3rd party but what they were doing when they got hurt might factor in. I'd double check to be sure

why would you want to do that? it's time consuming and you would have a limited number of people.....I like to market to the masses....
