With the food, get a set of Cutco knives to give to them.  Yes, they are the best knives out there, but a person from Cutco goes to their house one time a year to sharpen their knives on YOUR behalf.  Talk about serving the the client :) Oh and might as well get a cheese ball :)

I would have some tried and true faves of everyone like wings or nachos. Don't get too fancy but make it fun and maybe do a little takeaway bag of Cookie treats with your name and card on it. Your cookies are famous so it could say something about getting on your Christmas cookie list so new people could sign up (lots of new prospects that way).

I have found that finger food is great. One of my hobbies is cooking so I typically provide the food for house warming/open houses. I generally provide some kind of treat for the kids as well (candy bar, Dunkin Donuts, etc...). You can also serve fresh fruit on a tooth pick. The tooth pick is key as they person consumes the fruit generally within a few feet of where it is being served.

It all depends on budget and your clients taste.  But I do think it is smart to keep it to less destructive foods that won't make a mess or stain.  L. Scott Ferguson I love the cutco knives but they do not come out and sharpen ours.  We have to mail them in.  My wife sold them in college and loves them.

I went to an eastern Indian house warming party brought some egg rolls. The hostess(buyer) placed red "good luck" mark between my eye brows.  I came home wife thought I  hurt myself on the forehead.

Will, that is a wonderful idea.  I like Kevin's menu. Also I would add in a little take home item/gift (with your information) for each guest.

Shrimp, meatballs, mini sausages wrapped in bacon in a good sauce, maybe a cheese or avocado dip, a veggie tray, cheese tray, and maybe some pretzels and chips.  If you are so inclined invite a local winery to have a sampling of their wines available. They often will assist for a nominal fee for the exposure.

Definitely finger foods.  Love Marco's idea of wine, cheese, fruit.  Also love the mexican food idea...taquitos, mini quesadillas, mini tacos, mango lightly sprinkled with cayenne pepper, coconut drinks or flavored margaritas or mexican beer.  Yum!

This sounds elaborate if you are providing a lot of food!  I usually host a small open house for the neighbors on the block to come by and meet the new residents--for one hour on a weeknight...and have some lemonade and cookies on hand.

Finger foods are easier to clean up after the event. Homemade bread is also good.  Good Luck and have fun.

Hi Will, you may want to time it around "wine time" and create or have catered some nice finger food platters and cheese and cracker platters that are easily assembled. Don't forget to have some nice spring blossoms mixed in and around the setting as well. After a glass of wine the strangers/neighbors will "warm" up to the occasion!
