Thank you everyone for your answers.  I see people leaving messages on the side of the page where it says posts and I did not know how they got over there as I do not see that when I go to others pages.

There is nothing wrong with leaving messages on personal Facebook timelines. Or, you can send a Facebook message if you do want others to view it.
