Ed Silva I do believe it's too less - however, from practical point of view, what we learn is CE has no value - so even if they increase the number of hours, it's not going to be much beneficial.

Hi Ed... in NC we do 8 hours every year--4 hours mandatory and 4 hours of an elective. I personally think thye 8 hours annually is barely enough.

Ours is 30 hours every 3 years with a mandatory 8 hours QB class that we don't get credit for. They are changing this soon but I don't know the details yet.

Morning Ed. I am a broker in three states. On the average if you break it down the CE requirements are about 6 hours per year. That's enough

We have 24 hours every three years with a mandatory update class every year. So your requirement is less than my state's requirement. I don't mind. I like to learn and stay on top of what is new and happening in my business. I know you are the same way, Ed.

In my state, C.A.R. give us 12 hours for free per year. I take them online at home.

WE are 15 hours and I feel it should be more. I think also that new agents need more CE. If we look around and see the non-professionalism all around us...we need to do something.
I had an agent last year that didn't know how to fill out the inspection addendum and he was not new.

Too little. Realtors should be reminded again and again that there is a code that they should follow. The problem, most of us take it online and do not even read it:(

Ours are every four years, and ethics is mandatory and it is 45 hours for renewal. I am still surprised that people don't get ethics or Equal Housing laws. Does it better our community, we all hope it does...then you run accross a total nincompoop, and it leaves you speechless! A

Ed, we now have to do twelve hours every year and I think thats about right.

Ed Silva Here in Virginia agents are required to take 16 hours of CE and brokers have to take 24 hours. There is a mandatory 3 hours in ethics and 2 hours in Fair Housing. Seeing some of the Fair Housing and ethics debates here, it may be too little.

Up here it's 24 hours every two years.
I'm encouraged by the answers here. When they mandated the 24 hours education requirements people were up in arms about being "forced" to educate themselves further. So nutty.

Education is a crazy quilt in the US for REALTORS® and because NAR can't dictate the hours it is up to the states. On the otherhand the better question is what is the cirriculum? Just having hours in and of itself doesn't help educate so the devil is in the details.

In Louisiana, 10 hours every year and 4 are mandatory. It would not bother me if they increase. In my area as for as professionals, CPA, RN's and the like require at 24 per year. I say increase at least here in my state. Education is never wasted.

Good morning Ed. And there will be so those who will do just the bare minimum. I think it is up to the professional to go beyond the bare minimums.

They just raised our to every year. 6 hours per year is not enough. Ethics is madatory here too.
