I have heard they can ruin your car's paint job. I just had a friend get a car wrap and is getting lots of contacts from it.

Have not used car signs.  If you encounter a "road rage" nut while driving, they will know who you are.

I asked this same question a few weeks back and the consensus was the same. That it feels a bit cheap. Not for everyone.

I have an easy to ID car, only 2 in the entire town. I use it as a way to get attention. It has magnets and I have gotten business from it. And it fits my ladder too.

My cool ride- fits a ladder too.

The most important home I sell is YOURS!

One of our top producing agents ran a stop sign and hit a car in his "totally wrapped" vehicle.  He was promptly sued by the guy he hit because the guy saw dollar signs in the "big balloon".  His insurance company settled out of court, but the legal fees were very high, mostly due to the "victim" suing for lost wages.  By the way, the "victim" hadn't worked in 7 years.  No way I'm putting a sign on my car.

I too think it is cheesey for the agent to have it on their car.  I would call it over the top advertising.  Good for a moving van.

It looks like a fun way to advertise a lot of businesses but I think real estate, where we drive people around, it feels cheap. On the other hand, I might be tempted if I had a 2nd car, a vintage one, for example, that had my brokerage name on it. Some of the local Carmel-by-the-Sea businesses do that and loads of people take photos of them. A friend of mine who has a French antique store here has a vintage Citroen with her stores name very elegantly on it and it gets oodles of attention and brings her much business.

Good evening Barbara,  I used car magnets for a few years and never was able to track lead one from them.  I am going to have painting done on rear side windows this year though and do believe it puts you in front of a lot of people.  Mark

I have car magnets that my broker gave me (a reward for being one of the top producers in the company), but they have the office phone on them, not my personal cell number. I asked him not to put my cell number on the signs because I think it's a little creepy to drive around with my cell number right there for weirdos to call.  I don't leave the signs on my car. I put them on when I go to a listing appointment, or when I am showing houses. That's really the only times I use them.

I think it depends on your market. I only know of one person who wrapped her car here. Sometimes I see signs on cars - I don't do it. Don't see it as going with my style but I think it is market specific too.

Debbie Reynolds when we work by referrals, we don't need to attract strangers..... (just kidding!)

I have not used it - nor do I plan to. Some of the town treat my car as commercial if I do so.

Debbie,

We had a client (broker owner) in Canada who bought a smart car and had it wrapped.  She called it the biggest mistake of her life, people laughed at her!  No business was garnered from it.

When we were driving up from LA, we saw a realtor's car with the wrap showing him driving the car, and we started laughing as he was in the car.  His phone number was plastered all over it.  I took a picture and was going to post it.

Then I decided that we all have enough criticism as it is, and I did not need to contribute more.  LOL A

PS I hate the idea, it cheapens marketing, and I would not hire anyone who did that for any property regardless of price!
