I just can't understand the obsession with tattoos.  I served in the Marine Corps and there were very few at that time (70s) who had tattoos.  My older brother was career Navy and got two large ones on his arms back in the 60s and they look like blotched ink and have for over 25 years.

None- or ' I Served my Time". Despite what people say claiming they are art, the majority of people react negativetly to tattoos. I've been waiting for someone to tatoo a QR code on themselves.

Seriously, the world has changed and tattoos are no longer seen only on bikers or skinheads but in the world of business as well as many other places where today's movers and shakers go about their daily routines.   I couldn't suggest one for "your friend" without knowing  more.  Please -- tell us more...

I happen to love tattoos and even have a few. Placing one on the neck though, that may not be the best idea. Unfortunately, we live in a society where judgement is passed readily, whether right or wrong, a neck tattoo is a very bold move!

Seriously we all have friends with tattoos, many of you probably have a tattoo, but would I want the guy with a tattoo on his neck negotiating the biggest investment of my  life? NEVER. I want the guy that looks like business, acts like business, and is business. Not someone that wears his weekend "I am a party guy" on his neck

as an aside, I am amazed at the number of comments with tattoo spelled incorrectly. I hope that none of those folks get words tattooed on themselves......

Some super creative ideas here. Just make sure your friend is in the business for the long haul. Removal is still not easy.

It depends on how you value your body, doesn't it? If it's already priceless why bother changing your appearance, if it's not, change your appearance and adorn your body with tattoos, piercings and other musings.

I'm not a fan of tattoo exposure, so I refrain from taking any advice or doing any business with people who have tattoos, yet, I'm sure there are many who disagree. That's why America is a great country, isn't it, because we have the freedom to choose who to do business with, don't we?

Regardless of what picture or words you put there, what it is really going to say is "I'm not capable of making good decisions!".

For me, tattoos and piercings are like billboards (even if you called them art) if placed within the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon. They are not natural, they'd trash up the area and will deteriorate with age, would be a distraction from what's important, would generally be thought of as a poor decision and will make it harder for the observer to see and focus on the beauty behind them.

However it is your body, if you want to cover it with graffitti and stick things in it I will do my best to look past them to see the person behind them. Although I will probably not choose you to help me make good decisions.

I am sure you have no intention of getting a tattoo (hope I spelled that right for those spell checking everyone's posts), but the response is overwhelming. Whether to tatoo or not to tatoo, one is sending a message. I look at this question from the point of view of will this behavior enhance one's image or detract from it?

If I was still a commercial agent and I had a neck tattoo it would be:

Having done many settlements for buyers with ink, I think that some of these answers are pretty narrow minded.  Many successful people have ink, some where you can see it, some where you can't.  Times are changing people.

As  one of the few in the 101st Airborne paratroopers (1958 to 1961) that did not have tattoos. Why? Every time I sat in the tattoo chair I remembered my uncles from WW II and Korea and  how their tattoos looked as they got old.  My grandmother told me when I was young "Jack any thing that you do to your body when your young, will get even when you get old". Please listen to my grandmother.

I would say No tatoo, Find another location for it may be better.

Sorry, but people my age generally consider tattoos in bad taste unless you are a biker.

Why must it be "words?"  Couldn't it just as easily be a "castle" or other real estate related item that might continue after this person no longer is a viable agent?

While I can appreciate people who spend their cash to flash body art (and some of it can be quite pretty), it personally repulses me.  I find I pay great attention to only the face/eyes because the rest can be too overwhelming for me.  I am really bothered by men with those jumbo holes in their ears or folks really tatted up.  Here in the NW, I actually see a lot of that.  Then again, I also don't make a point of picking up these people as clients.  We probably have very little in common.

What's that old saying again?  "Birds of a feather...."  I'm just not of that type of feather, so I have to excuse myself on this topic. (Smiling)

I am with Michael Jacobs .  A Tattoo is like a brand, so more needs to be known.  I love Myrl Jeffcoat tattoo idea.  My first thought would be to have a giraffe neck with the slogo saying, I will stick my neck out for you!  A

Not a fan of tattoo's in general and less impressed with neck tattoos.  I would not do it at all.  But I must say you got some really great responses.

Tattoos are permanent, fashion trends are not.  Like the long hair of the 60's and 70's tattoos will some day be much less fashionable. My suggestion is that if it cannot be covered easily don't get it! Realtors are always complaining they are not treated as professionals, could it partially be they don't act the part? 

The company Logo might look nice, mine would if I thought about making it into a tattoo.  Besides, remeber Rapid Realty gave agent's a pay boost for getting inked with their logo. NYC agent's get inked.

Wow! You certainly generated a lot of discussion, Dick! If someone wants to get a tattoo, my suggestion would be get a temporary one. People change, life changes and feelings change. Why mark your body with something permanent. Look how many people have their significant other's name tattooed on their body, only to have it crossed out and replaced with something else when the relationship ends. If the point is to make a statement, do it the way people do it with hair dye, make up, jewelry and clothing...removable! lol

I'm not a fan of tattoos in general, especially on so-called "professionals." However, one of the best and most productive loan officers I work with has body art down his arms to his wrists (and apparently most of the rest of himself), always covered with long-sleeved shirts and ties. It is invisible, unless his cuffs slide way up or come unbuttoned.

Tattoos can't be undone without a lot of pain and expense. So many young kids are getting them, and I'm sure in 5-10 years they will be really sorry they did. But . . . to each his or her own!
