The last time we hand no contact other than a land line is when we spent two day with Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 .  We were able to make a call on her landline, because a client was expecting to hear from us.  There was no cell reception, and after 5 minutes, we just shut down, and she and her husband Larry took us on a boat ride...It was so peaceful and truly wonderful...We had a couple of days in Europe like that also.  A

You can do that????!!!!  Honestly I am a firm believer that when a Realtor goes on vacation the universe is informed and business begins to boom. Just got back from vaca...received 2 offers, wrote 1....vacation is good for business is my mantra.

Paul, that is one of the hardest things for us as real estate agents to do.  Even to escape for a few hours is hard for us to do.  But there will come a time when we hit that wall that we will not be left the option.  Take time to replenish your mind and soul.  We are here for such a short time.....

It was magical having that total silence with Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 .  I think that as we go into the future and the last mile of Wi-FI happens, we are going to need seminars on how to force ourselves to shut down all contact, or build a cave in our homes, where no tech can penetrate, just to stay sane.  LOL

To this day, Paul, I recall that time with Ron & Alexandra Seigel--and they handled it with aplume! We took deep breaths and savored the break. Now, things are more updated around here...just had a friend who owns a very successful business here for a couple days of respite and she was able to easily get connection on her Ipad and do business over the phone as well. 

Hi Paul -- I think remaining in contact is a part of my DNA so we can go around most parts of the globe yet still be "on the job".   Of course, there needs to be a responsible back-up person for face-to-face meetings that need to take place.

I haven't done it for a while although I have a great buyer agent who can take care of everything. I am just obsessive about knowing what is going on in my business!

I make sure I check in once a day even when in the remote areas.

Never or not for entire vacation :(

It was a glorious 18 days in December of 2012 that I could officially call a vacation. Generally it is mid-week getaways that are the current refreshers.

I am never totally out of touch!

I have taken a couple of cruises several years ago and was out of contact for 7 days. It actually felt very good. Now I would pay for internet as it isn't that expensive and I might even get an chip for my phone. I like to be in control and  just check on things.

Oh, Paul!  That would be way back in the day, maybe before I got a real estate license?  I mean, no contact?  None at all? 

That has never happened to me. 

NEVER, i took a week off the end of February but had to be in constant contact in case i was needed. I did turn the phone off and made them use email, so at least i had a little peace. 

I personally need to be able to stay in contact when ever possible.  I have a capable agent, but I still have that need otherwise I don't relax very well.

Why would I ever want to do that? If I needed a break where there was no connection via WiFi I may as well retire. My professional life and my personal life are very intertwined, and I like it that way. Some people need a break but I am not one of those people.

I had some days while hiking in Europe last summer when I was out of touch--not many! And, of course, my clients knew and my replacement checked in almost daily. I spent, perhaps, 10 minutes a day, max on business.

More years than I care to admit. The truth is, it is so much easier these days, but I do limit the amount of time.

Even when I'm on a cruise I'm in contact. It just the way I'm. So never happens. 

Prior to getting into real estate.  That would be about 11 years ago.

August 2014.  We have a little cabin in Taos NM with no connections. 

uh...never! I guess I'm due for one, don't you think?!
