I like Mail Chimp. Didn't know there were classes for it. I use it for my blasts but not my drip campaigns. My CRM is easy for drips.

Event Driven Activity. (without giving away the secret sauce)
EXAMPLE 1
Big block building under construction at the entrance to a community that represents $$$$ to you. EVERYONE in the community sees the construction, and they see that LION Bank is financing..but they may not know what or who will occupy the structure. The event is the construction, the marketing is connecting the reader to the event. (My EDA philosophy does not involve the entire community)
EXAMPLE 2
Event Driven Activity. The event is the 'Marching band festival' at Highlander Park. The target community near Highlander Park may welcome a little back ground on the Marching Band Festival and their connection to the event. (My EDA does not include the entire community)
"But Annette," you shout, 'what has any of that to do with real estate?"
Those do not. However, since you are paying attention to your real estate marketplace you will see the real estate relevant activity to exploit on a micro mailing scale. Like all marketing, good headlines are essential.
Event Driven Activity Example 3
Newspaper reports a lot where previous home was swallowed by a sinkhole is going to be used for a new spec home. A successful sale means every home owner in that community may escape the blight of unmarketable sink hole community. Connecting the reader to this event does not require rocket science.
EDA is much, much more simple than example 3. Everyone reading will be able to figure it out.
Here is a graphic of the result of EDA based on a micro mailing to 14 houses in Fairway Estates, in Dunedin FL.
The mailing occurred on 14 Feb the second spike on the left. Knowing several home owners visited the site multiple times, what would an enlightened real estate professional know they must do next?
EDA is a very low cost, highly effective, marketing strategy that agents who are paying attention can benefit from immensely.

Mari Armstrong what you need to be listening to hear from those who want to separate you from your money is how they capture and leverage IP.
At the same time you must observe if this vendor is modeling the system they are selling you. For instance is a vendor relies on dialing for dollars to generate their leads but they are selling you something else...you need to see where they have placed their trust.
Finally, what you will find hugely effective in ANY market, that is unbelievably effective in the connection economy is event driven activity (EDA). Very low cost, extremely effective and its got legs. Yes, you still need capture mechanisms such squeeze pages and auto responders. However, they are not heart of the plan, but the beginning of a process to cultivate those who are predisposed to do business with you.

Anita Clark wrote a blog titled "You Annoy The Hell Out of ME" http://activerain.com/blogsview/4617261/you-annoy-the-hell-out-of-me---
Don't do that.
These folks are selling you 1980 technology and your business needs something a bit newer. If what they are selling is direct mail, drip campaigns, and landing pages, and that is the entirety...keep your money in your pocket until you run into the vendor with something relevant to a business that wants to be around for another 10 years and conforms to the existing, connection economy.

Just started in ListingstoLeads -- not sure I'm sold on them as yet. A lot of what they offer I've already got myself and for some reason one of the things I really wanted them for, which was to easily transfer listing info to my blog, doesn't work on AR.

Hi, Mari...I was in class today, too. I don't use either of these services.

I have used MailChimp plenty of times and it is easy to use and the price is right.

Mail chimp is a good service as long as you don't abuse it. Never used listing to leads.

I have used Mail Chimp with good success. Looking forward to hearing what others have to say about Listings2Leads.
Annette Lawrence I heard back from the RE "Pro" who was rude...evidently they could not figure out one of the content curation tips I provided so decided to take it out on me. Live and learn.

I have used MailChimp before, it is pretty easy to create and edit emails in and it has good analytic tools.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply - I really do appreciate your insight and information. I will seriously consider how to implement these ideas for my market. Excellent!!!

Annette , would you mind explaining Event Driven Activity? I've never heard of that term.

Annette, actually this class was not a vendor selling either product. What do you use for drip, landing pages and lead generation? I'd love to hear what is working for others.... Thanks so much!
