Every great athlete, performer, etc has at least one coach. I had a free one hour coaching call that identified a huge issue in the first 10 minutes. It was invaluable - now just figuring out how to pay for their program.

If the agent realizes they NEED a coach, they will benefit.

IF the agent is engaged to "see if they can make be better," they will not benefit.

In essence, if the agent is teachable (most are not) they will benefit.

It depends on what you are looking for.  It is hard to answer it specifically for me.  I agree with Larry, and you have to find the right coach for you.  No one size fits all. A

Will I have to say yes even though not having one.  I do take many classes not offering CE credits to hopefully fill in where I am missing a coach.  Cost prohibitive at the present time.   And that goes to the chicken or egg question.  Mark

Will Hamm - yes, my coach's number is.... !

Actually, it does help to have a coach who is going to make you accountable! It's easy to get off-track in our business!

Sometimes it does, it is a personal preference. I recently helped develop an entire coaching program and what I know is some people need motivation, others simple accountability. Agents need to understand coaches are sales people too, if it is not working or you continue to fail - it might be the coach or the system.

DO NOT simply take the "system works" talk from the coaches as gospel. There are more factors at play. The right system for the wrong person is the wrong system!

If you're new to the business and need someone to make you feel accountable, then yes. Some agents sign up for a coach and expect it to be the answer to all their problems, but a coach will do you no good if you aren't willing to put in the work and time.

Hi Will -- as you can read from the comments already expressed, there are lots of opinions.   I have used a coach and learned some good skills and techniques. It's all about finding the right match and/or motivation.

It depends. Some people / agents are not coachable because they think they already know everything. If you want to be coached, it can be worth it. I think most agents avoid coaching because it costs too much.

I believe it does. It keeps you accountable. Same as in gym. You can learn to do it yourself or you can let professionals to keep you in shape.

Yes, it pays to have a coach.  Someone who knows the profession from experience, makes it easy for us to excel quicker.

It may help some, but personally, I do not think a coach is a benefit.  Mentoring should be the way to go.

Echo...if it is the RIGHT coach....and one that understands where you are in your career and meets your mind with goals and not a scripted program that ignores your experience.

Great question. I think it's important to get a referral for a good coach. Otherwise it could be a waste of money.

First I thought you said couch and I said heck yeah, I want to be comfortable Will, then I stopped pulling your leg.

I do not go for coaches. I am a lean mean selling machine. I think about selling all the time. I think most of the coaches are oh well, BS. If their method was so good then why are they not out there selling. Plus I can't sit still or pay attention for more than 10 minutes at a time so it's not for me.
