Paul Henderson - nothing wrong with that. You may want your list to be 'de-cluttered'. When you followed them, you had some interest in what they write/post and now if you are not interested, it's okay.

Now remember the 6 month rule....

They take away points if you unfollow??? That makes no sense at all. If a member is following and unfollowing only for the sake of points sake, I can understand, but I unfollowed from groups where the moderator was MIA for a couple of years!

If they have been on your list more than 6 months you are not supposed to get dinged. Are you finding that to be true?

I just addressed this issue in a post, too, Paul.  I think that the reasoning was that we could subscribe an unscribe just to get points.  I think the time limit is six months....but I have seen people get Ambassadorships and then pretty much "retire".  What sense does that make!?!

I don't agree with it, Paul.  Though, I think the reasoning behind it is to keep people from gaming the system by continuously following and then unfollowing people.

No and I think it's non productive to dock us when we stop following anyone. Really, why pay for clearing a few people from our Follow list now and then?

I don't really understand the point system or pay much attention to it. The amount of points I have on AR does nothing about getting me appointments with buyers and sellers. I don't know if it's fair or not, but it shouldn't be too hard to recover whatever points were lost.

No, I don't think it's fair. You were awarded points for following an active member. If they stop being active, it's their problem, not yours.

If you follow someone for 6 months and decide to unfollow, you don't loose any points. Same about your blog posts ( if you decide to delete, you don't loose points)~ did they change it?

i wish we could drop non-active peopel without penalty ater one year.  That is enough time to wait for them.

It's not your fault that they left.  Why should you be punished?

If you follow, and they never post, tough to have them clog up on your blog roll.  Think we should be able to unfollow. 

Why would you quit following them?  It doesn't make any difference if they sit there in your follow pile.

If you've been following them for six months, you shouldn't get a point deduction. Six months is the cutoff. I also like to clean up my subscriber list. 

If I have a $300 lawnmower in my garage, knowing I could sell it online for $50, decide that I just want it out of the way, and drag it to the curb. Gone, and so is any value it may have had for me.  My choice: I could leave it in the corner and put up with clutter, or sell it for $50.  When I dump it, why should I expect the value to remain?  Why should I get upset that a neighborhood kid drags it home, fires it up and begins makinf $40 bucks mowing one of my other neighbor's yard.

Paul, I can see why this rule is in place and would hope that the point system isn't abused in that way.  After all, it's not that many points you get for following.   Having said that, I don't lime losi g points!

To be honest I don't understand most of the point system - I fought my way to the top of my area and there's another guy who only reblogs and he initially had way more points than I did. Anyway, I haven't tried to go down through my groups but I hadn't really subscribed to that many of them anyway. Guess I'll just have to leave it as it is - dont' need to get docked!

I have only unfollowed if they have been MIA a long time. I figure they moved on .

Gabe Sanders yes, I think that was the reasoning, but they could have just done it so that you only got the 10 pts once. 

In general, no I don't like it. but, it's only 10 pts and if the person is annoying me that much/too much clutter, it's worth losing the 10 pts.  Plus, I guess you can make up for it by answering a q on here.

Also, I'm not sure but I think if you followed someone before they implemented the 50/10 pt thing, I don't think you lose the pts.  I did unfollow a couple of people (people that really never posted) and didn't lose the pts.
