What is the theme of the fair?
What service or product provides your income?
What aspect of your business are you wanting to grow?
What do you have to offer?
Unless you are selling potato chips or groceries, the items you mention do not align with your business.

For instance, when I attend the Earth Days fair, I go with my WalkableHomes.com presentation and T-shirts. Those who are 'A' prospects are given the T only if they put it on immediately. (The T is very attractive)

Take the money you would have spent on bag and clips and pay a ghost writer to write for you a book relevant to your business or related to what is on the mind of those in your community, of between 55 an 90 pages in length. One "show and tell" copy at the fair, attendee copy available FREE on line. You know where to go from there.

Examples of best of the best publications, "100 Days of Summer," "Trailways to Fitness," "The Heritage of Happiness," "7 Things I Wish I Knew BEFORE Getting Into Real Estate," and 'Barriers in Real Estate: the struggle to let go."

The moral to the story is this is your opportunity to establish a VALUE relationship with those you meet. The attendee will want to hear from you again because you represent VALUE to them. If you want to leave that to a bag clip, you are certainly free to do so.

Here in Florida, this age group is well known.

The most universal and most welcome offer you can make to these folks is a maintained, on-line, calender of events. Free events such as those nature walks, special event such as Thi Chi Classes and events specific to this age group AND those collaborative efforts you create with local merchants.(discounts/coupons) Don't over look baseballs games, pickle ball games, kyaking, hiking and the bicycle tour. Be a quality of life promoter and get them moving, running, competing.

Start with your "100 Days of Summer" publication at the EXPO that directs them to the website. You will discover THURSDAY is prime time on the website giving you plenty of lead time for the weekend events that result in referrals.

This will be a labor intensive task, but it will prove to be the only task in which you need to be engaged.

Turning Houses into Homes

The only thing that comes to mind is make it larger print.  I sell homes in the 55+ community.  I think photos of how these homes are built for the aging is a good idea.  Simple things no one thinks of like door handles rather than knobs.

I agree with Patricia Kennedy that people over 50 don't necessarily think of themselves as old. I think that choosing promotional items that yell "you're old" could be counter-productive.

It's interesting to note that there are a wide range of people in the 55+ community.  Some are more knowledgeable than most people at any age and some require a great deal of information and guidance.

At 50, I was trying to figure out how to take care of my mother with mild dementia.  Maybe what you offer should include being a caregiver, decision maker for someone else.

Since the average age of today's Realtor is something like 59, 50 sounds so young!  I really think this type of presentation needs to be pegged to the over 70-market.  And even the 70-somethings don't think of themselves as aging these days.
