Change the bag if it is full. If it is not, then check to see if i is installed properly. There could be a leak in the suction. Also check the wheels to see if there is hair causing the bristles to not work properly.

I bought a Shark Pro and I love it. Works great....have you moved back home yet?

Sybil, may need tune up and filter change. We dumped ours years ago for a Dyson. We have had it for 9 years and never had a problem. A

We have had a Sharp for years and years....we have two others as well....one of the downstairs and one for the garage and vehicles. We keep the filters cleaned by actually rinsing them out every month and replacing them after they are dried. Check your hose and make sure that the belts are tight. That is all there could be wrong with any vaccuum. Good luck, Sybil!

My housekeeper got a new Sharp at Sam's Club and it is a lightweight upright with a small canister attached. She likes it.

I have to agree with Kevin, not much but the pipes and filters.

Not too much can happen which brings their performance down other than clogged passages. If you have pets a once over by a vacuum pro will bring the suck back to your suction Sybil Campbell. I recently overhauled two of ours and although I haven't tried to pickup a bowling ball they're doing their jobs well. Here's a tip, don't try to suck up anything metal, screws, bolts, couns, etc. they're all eventual recipes for disaster.

If you have carpet, it may also depend on type of carpet. Super soft carpets don't work w/ dysons nor beater bars.
Also, I just learned this last week...if you have pets, there is a new stainmaster carpet that is antistatic so makes it easier to vacuum pet hair. I can't wait to get the samples in Feb/Mar.

Depending on the type, changing the bag would be a great start. LOL
Really it sounds as though you have something blocking the discharge pipe. Does it have a heppa filter. If that is plugged nother get through it.

William Feela thanks but I clean that regularly. I really think it's has worn out, is a lemon or my cleaning lady ran over somethig with it that messed it up.

There should be a pleared white or light grey filter that needs to be cleaned. Most call them a HEPA filter. It filters out the fine particles and does plug up quiickly

Kevin J. May, I don't have pets, but my cleaning lady may have sucked up something she shouldn't have.

Debbie Gartner, I think I'm going to invest in a new vacuum. I don't want to spend a ton and my new house has hardwood floors throughout except for carpet in the bedrooms and one hall. What would you suggest?

Sam, it wasn't a very expensive vacuum, I'm not sure it's worth the cost.

taking it to a vaccum cleaner store for a tune-up.... leaks, striction, belt slipping etc.
