I think they're just trying to create drama and controversary.  The real estate transaction is too complicated and too major.  Same thing w/ CPA's and taxes.  too much to learn and too many mistakes that can be made if you try to do on your own.

Praful, it's possible.  But, I believe it will be highly unlikely.  (Though, I know I won't be working in 2025  )

Sarah & Les Oswald - it's a good idea to compare our business with other business models - however, each and every business is different. Travel industry rarely needed one-on-one or face-to-face interaction. The financial commitment has been much less than that for real estate transaction and frequency is lot more in travel - so as I mentioned in my previous comment - Travel is Book it and Forget it! Not the same for Real Estate.

Debbie Gartner I hope what you say is true.

Yes, this is not the same as travel industry where you book it and forget it!

Change is definitely on its way as we know it today. Not sure how much change, but it is definitely coming. Remember...travel agents? They are obsolete due to the internet. There is always going to be a need for agents to show the properties, negotiation will most likely be online, market analysis will also be more a due diligence on the part of the seller and buyers. This is just my take of what will happen to our industry.

Hannah Williams - even I believe that we are in relationship business and one needs to show the home - irrespective of the technology they use. Let's hope 10 years down the road, technology is still not that great to show a listed home on someone's smart phone in 3D!

Good question  No I do not .. People will always need housing .This goes back to the time of the caveman . People also need someone to show them the home and guide them through the home-buying process

Praful Thakkar  I have to say something else you can not tell on line.  That is if the house has an odor . Wow what do you do . Here is an example .You buy a gorgeous house but the previous owner had cats and they sprayed .The home has a horrible odor that you can not get rid of without professional help .All your furniture is outside on the  moving truck.

You never physically inspected the home with an agent . You did it all on line with photos s ?

Hannah Williams - you are right - 3D view of home on a screen is......just that, on the screen! Can't feel and touch that for sure.

Helping you achieve goals in life & real estate

There are too many nuances when it comes to real estate transactions. It's not like you put a house on the market on one side of the assembly line and get a sold home out of the other side. What happens when the buyer's credit needs help? How about checking out if that driveway has an easement so you can get to the home. There's a level of satisfaction that still relies on eyes on the ground.

Praful Thakkar  I still think we need the real thing . What you see on screen is not the same as what you see when you actually walk into a house .I tell my buyers it is a feeling you get when you walk into a house if it is the right house you know if it is home it is a feeling you get inside.

Same for the seller how would we know what repairs they need to do .Selling and buying a home is more complicated  then it seems . It can not be done by computers and cameras.  We are dealing with people
