Being new to the area will be challenging in itself. But I remember doing just that and found it to be an advantage. I had no idea who was related to who and who was this or that person's past customer so everyone was fair game and I left it to the buyers and sellers to make the decision. I would however recommend going with a reputable and known company in the area to give you credibility. Just saying....

I would also suggest that you sign up with a local well know company. This way it will give you better credibility. As for you being new to the area, I wouldn't worry too much, you have past experiences. Market yourself as one bringing XX years of real estate experience to the local market. Wishing you much success.

Unless your current business is 100% referral related you will be ok. Just do what you've always been doing. Focus on the area you move to and shout your experience.

Starting new in an area is hard, I know because I had to do that. My opinion only, your name & face are going to be new in the area so you MAY want to start with a company that is NOT new. At least have that as a PLUS when starting out. Good luck & GOD BLESS in your move.

I moved to another state where I was unknown and did fine. One of the key elements for me was to join a well known and highly respected company. I focused on representing buyers rather than obtaining listings.

Jennifer Prince , relocation is always a challenge. You have to start building the new relations and new business.

If you have a small sphere of influence, that will be a great beginning. Spread the word, work with a coach from renowned coaching company (I'd recommend Brian Buffini - call or email me for more details.)

The quickest way to acquire listing is working with those who have raised the hand - i.e. FSBO and Expired, if you are comfortable in working with them.

Wishing you all the best in your move and great success at new place.

Good luck with your move Jennifer Prince .  I would recommend you interview the broker carefully as well as other agents with any firm you are planning to go with.  I always recommend going with one that will pair you up with a well experienced mentor.
