Get to Know Steve Richman

Good question.  Over the past 6 years I have presented to more than 35,000 mortgage and real estate professionals. I have presented at the request of several national, local and regional associations, not to mention numerous lenders and real estate companies.  Recently, I actually spoke on Capitol Hill discussing solutions to help homeowners stay in their homes during difficult economic times.

When I speak to groups, I try to deliver passionate realism.  I am high energy and try to be very engaging (some call that motivational), but at the same time, I do not believe in painting a false, rosey picture.  Let's lay that facts out as they really are and then we can discover a practical solution.

The other thing that makes me a successful trainer is that I tend to be able to take a complex concept or situation and am able to help people understand it quickly.

Bottom line, I am not on here trying to sell you anything.  I do not have a book, a system or software to sell.  Rather, I believe the better educated the real estate professional, the better the solution will be for the buyer, and thus, the stronger the real estate and mortgage market will become.  That is why I have joined this community.

Certifications

I currently live in Raleigh, NC with my wife and 2 children, but I have quite a diverse background.

After graduating from the University of Maryland (undergrad) and the George Washington (law school), I was a litigation attorney for 4 years.  During this time, I was also adjunct faculty at Towson State University where I taught public speaking.  I moved into the mortgage profession and have held numerous positions -loan officer, account executive, trainer and manager.

With a passion for adult education, I went out on my own as a corporate trainer.  I taught courses in human resources law, real estate settlement and contracts, negotiations, team work and communications.  I was then offered an opportunity to work with the Shapiro Negotiations Institute as a Master Certified Negotiations Trainer. I have guest lectured at Columbia University's MBA School and taught as adjunct faculty at the Sellinger Business School.

In 2002, GE (now Genworth) was looking for a professional with a training, mortgage, real estate, law and RESPA background.  And the rest, as they say, is history.
