After working for IBM Corporation for 13 years in the Sacramento Downtown office, I decided I needed to spread my wings and try something else. I had been taking real estate courses and had just passed my real estate exam...so off I went. At that time we had one page contracts, no disclosures and "Buyer Beware". What a change the last 30 years have had. Our contract is now 10 pages with multiple pages for addendums covering items of special concern, plus at least an additional 25-30 pages of disclosures, not including the Earthquake Hazards Booklet, Termite Report, Home Inspection Report, Property I.D. Report and any other type of report that would be pertinent; i.e. roof, well, water, soil, structural, etc. At least I have the detail skills I learned from IBM to be able to handle all the miscellaneous paperwork.
I am constantly looking to update my skills. Negotiation is one of the key skills a good agent must have to represent their client and provide a true fiduciary relationship. I love working with both buyers and sellers. It keeps me on my toes working with both types of clientel. Today, with so much of the search being done on the internet prior to searching an area by car, so much more time is spent in the office on the computer. The true strength of an experienced agent is so valuable because of the agent's knowledge of communities, neighborhoods, value, etc. I have worked the 3 county area (Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado) for the past 30 years. I have watched the growth and been familiar with new neighborhoods as they have developed.
With my husband, Don, we have raised 5 children (all graduating from Folsom High) and going on to various universities. We now have 10 grandchildren (6 college graduates, 5 are married). We have 8 great grandchildren - 6 boys and 2 girls!. Boy, how our dynasty is growing!!!
I have obtained the following designations through special schooling and seminars. In 1980 I became a broker.
CRS - Certified Residential Specialist - 1 of 4% of all Realtors have. Required coursework in technology, referrals, buyer and seller strategies and rigorous production requirements.
ePRO - Technology (use of the computer) expansion
GRI - Graduate of Realtor's Institute - Intensive course completeing all the courses in Real Estate Practice and Ethics
ABR - Accredited Buyer's Representative - Consumer advocacy - Buyer Representation
ASP - Accredited Staging Professional - Can assist homeowners in staging their home prior to marketing.
SRES - Seniors Real Estate Specialist - Helping the seniors with difficult choices.
5 Star Rating - Certification training specifically designed to deliver a higher level of professional service, through Mobile Technology, Ethics, Legal, and use of the Internet for real estate commerce.
Real Estate Broker - State of California
With 30 years of experience helping buyers, sellers and investors achieve their goals, I find that I still love the excitement of closing an escrow. Your move matters to me!
