I wanted to purchase a foreclosure but the bank was being difficult to deal with when it came to several different aspects. The first was negotiating a price I could live with. When we passed that hurdle we had to get the home de-winterized for an inspection and Randy talked the sellers agent into having the bank pay to have it done. We are pleased with the extraordinary and outstanding services of Randy Hilman.. We don’t think we could have found a better professional to work with. From the moment we walked into his real estate office in May of 2013, Mr. Hilman jumped right on board with us. We were looking around the area, knowing that at some point we wanted to make the Lakes Region our home…..but weren’t sure how soon we’d be able to realize our dream because of family obligations. However, even knowing that, Randy began to help us and we found that not only did he have a realistic grasp of the market and area but he was also extremely knowledgeable and helpful with questions about where to go for planning board, building plan questions, and soil and wetland info. After looking at multiple properties it became apparent we would have to build our own home to realize our dream. We wanted acreage, and as you know, sometimes the current owners are not always aware of where their boundary lines are or what is written in their Deeds. Randy helped us with research on tax maps, tax cards, topography, any surveys….complete info. He was ready and willing to march property with us to determine where survey marks were or where old boundary lines existed (all the while careful to warn us to get a surveyor and have title search done). He was a good sport about properties with tick infestation and/or swarms of mosquitoes. We all suffered to find just the right property….and it took time. We were impressed by his ability to “read the land”. In our experience most REALTORS don’t have a grasp of this. At one point we dropped out of our search because of family obligations. Several months later we resumed and Randy picked up the ball with us again without missing a beat. Randy is very dapper and every bit the gentleman. It was frustrating for us at times thinking we might never find the right spot….but with his help and sound advice, we did. If we had been in the market for a waterfront “cottage”, we believe he would have been every bit as capable in showing and explaining that category as well. As we got to know more about Randy’s background, we learned he had worked with celebrities. We are both retired white-collar professionals and required an agent who was sophisticated and intellectual enough to relate to us….not snooty, but smart with an expanded horizon of knowledge and sophistication. Randy fits that bill. He was never presumptuous, but rather, always prepared to share information that we could choose to use or store away for another day. Instead of being relieved (as we were) when we finally found our property, Mr. Hilman seemed to consider this just the next phase of his commitment to us as he made wise recommendations in the wording of our “offer to buy”, knowing what our concerns were. The offer was submitted with Randy making sensible and persuasive arguments (we were sitting in his conference room when the call came in) to rebuff the receiving agent who made some protests. With a minor concession on our part, the offer was accepted and we thank our agent Randy Hilman and his ever present professionalism for that. We don’t believe most other agents would have been able to bring this to closure. We are not the typical buyers. We’re very discerning and know real estate. We currently hold four other properties. We’re not easy to please but found Randy Hilman exceeded expectations and we learned a great deal from him. No other REALTOR we’ve worked with has ever come close to his level of service. In our opinion he outshines his peers and has raised the bar. We are not given to writing reviews for anyone, any company or any product. We just don’t.
