Get to Know Tamara Stout
I am so excited to be able to combine two of my greatest passions-real estate and travel. Fourteen years ago, my husband and I bought our first second home property. Since that time we have owned second home properties in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and even Hawaii. Everywhere we travel, I spend time studying and learning the real estate market in that area. Until recently, however, real estate was only a hobby. Since 1983, I have worked full time as a speech-language pathologist and learning specialist. After completing my Bachelor's degree from Auburn University and my Master's degree from Vanderbilt University in speech-language pathology, I spent a short time working in Birmingham, AL, before moving with my husband to Honduras for a year. I'm not sure I knew it at the time but this is where my love of travel began. After returning from Honduras, I worked in New Orleans, LA and Biloxi, MS for a year until we finally returned to the Atlanta area, which is where I grew up. At that time I began my private practice in language-learning disabilities, and completed my PhD in learning disabilities. After twenty years of a successful practice, I decided to devote my energies full time to my love of real estate and travel. Through traveling and research, I have made it a point to become very familiar with many of the best second-home markets both nationally and internationally. However, in researching real estate in various markets, I quickly discovered how challenging it is to find agents in each market. I know finding any agent is not a challenge, but I wanted an agent that knew the market well and also valued customer service; someone who understood my goals and needs and who was willing to devote his or her time to helping find that particular home or piece of property; someone who felt my search was important enough to give me the time and personal attention needed rather than turning me over to his or her assistant.
