The Potomac Real Estate School is a Virginia real estate continuing education school with delivery online and by correspondence.  The school was founded in 2008 by Patti Chapell.

Patti grew up in Connecticut.  She was trained as a speech and language pathologist at Northwestern University (BS) and the University of Illinois (MA) and worked for thirteen years with emotionally disturbed and learning disabled children.

In 1988, Patti received her Virginia real estate license and sold real estate full-time until 2001.  From 2001 through 2005, she served as Regional Training Director of the Long & Foster Northern Virginia Training Center in Fairfax, Virginia. While in this position, Patti was published in the NVAR "Update" magazine.  She also aided in editing Dearborn Publishing's Post-Licensing program.  In December, 2005, Patti became Director of Training and Career Development for Long & Foster and in November of 2006, Patti became Executive Director of Training and Education for Long & Foster.  While Executive Director of Training and Education, Patti authored "Star Builders," Long & Foster's current training program for newly licensed agents.  Patti left her position at Long and Foster in October of 2007 and founded the Potomac Real Estate School, which was launched in September of 2008.

Patti has earned the ABR, CRS and GRI designations, is an associate broker in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a Buffini & Company Certified MentorTM, and an Integrity Coaching® Certified Coach. She served on the NAR Education Committee from 2004 through 2007, is a member of the NVAR Education Advisory Group and served as its chair in 2005 and 2006, and has been a trustee of the Virginia Real Estate Educational Foundation since 2005.

Patti's priorities lie in raising the bar of agents' professionalism and preparedness in the industry.
