Get to Know Chris and Michelle Richard
You may wonder how we became “Almost Home”. You may also wonder how we tolerate working together 7 days a week. Here’s our story…
Chris and I both grew up in the same small town of Burrillville, RI. We went to school together since kindergarten. We had separate friends, different classes, different interests, and we even lived on opposite ends of town. Aside from one shared class, we hardly crossed paths. After graduation, like most people from high school, we carried on with our lives and each started a family. Many years later we found each other, only this time everything changed. We became instantly inseparable. Chris had 3 children from his previous marriage, I had 3 children from mine. All those who have known us could see the obvious “sparkle” in each of us that was never previously there. More than a decade later, that sparkle is still there, and we are still inseparable. This was one of the deciding factors that drove our desire to work together. But how do we make it work when we live AND work together?
Chris spent years in upper management. He is very analytical. He is “the business man”. Initially, when I became licensed early in 2010, Chris spent his off hours working on my websites, the photography for my listings, and the floor plans. By 2014, I was blessed with enough success that he was essentially working two jobs just to keep up with my needs. This was the year that he left the corporate world of management to join me full time.
Prior to real estate, I spent years in retail and bank management. Real estate had always been a dream of mine, but it’s a big step to leave a weekly paycheck with excellent benefits for the world of the unknown. Thanks to Chris’s support and encouragement, I followed my dream.
Now, here we are…Almost Home. Chris and I have been working together as the “Power Couple” since 2014. We both have different responsibilities, which keep us working together without stepping on each other’s toes. Chris handles a majority of the “back of house” things like business plans, marketing, presentations, and financials. I’m more in the “front of house” since my focus is on networking, social media, negotiations, and contracts.
Our mission, though, is the same. We both believe strongly in service above all else. Whether in corporate management, retail and banking management, or real estate, there is no substitute for exceptional service. Everything else falls in place when you take care of that one little piece. Chris and I have never “sold” a house. That’s not what we do. That’s not who we are. We are not in the sales industry; we are in the service industry. This, I feel, is why we are trusted. Our job is to determine the goal of our clients and make it happen seamlessly. Whether we are marketing a multi-million-dollar estate, helping a first-time homebuyer, working with a military relocation family, or a referral from a past client, we strive to deliver MORE.
Chris and I spent most of our lives in Rhode Island. We have recently relocated to Florida to embrace the sunshine and escape the snow. Many of our clients suggested that it would be amazing if we could have helped them on both sides when they moved out of New England and into Florida, so we listened! We are now licensed in Florida, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Sure, we have a beautiful office. But our job is on the road, where our clients need us. After all, our inventory is quite literally on the road. We both love to travel, and now we get to do that while helping clients at the same time.

We first listed with a local agent who was supposedly a "top seller" and after close to a year of maybe 4 showings, and barely any communication or feedback from the agent, we decided to find another agent. | Chris and Michelle helped me find my first home. They listened to what I wanted and answered every question I had about the process before I decided I was ready to jump in and buy a home. Once I was ready they helped me find all the homes I qualified for and decide which ones I wanted to take a look at that fit my needs. They were patient with me and answered all my questions about the homes I was interested in. I never felt rushed to decide or felt like I wasn't getting enough info to be able to make a decision (I like to be thorough!). | We are so impressed with this dynamic duo! My husband was being restationed from Seattle to New Haven, CT and we needed to buy a new home in a weekend! I searched and searched for a realtor, only to be very disappointed UNTIL a friend recommended Chris and Michelle. What a blessing! With only two weeks to spare, Michelle and Chris reviewed all the potential properties, made appointments and agreed to spend three days looking at over 30 properties. After three days I found the house that is now the home for our family of six. It wasn't without obstacles along the way... difficult selling agents, VA appraisal requirements that the team (literally) helped to fix as well as connecting us to an incredible mortgage financing agent who locked us in at an awesome rate! | We met Chris and Michelle at an open house last summer and were so impressed that we contacted them to help us search for our first house later that fall. Unlike realtors at other open houses we attended, they were very attentive and a wealth of information. We were very picky but they helped us find our dream house and helped in every single step of the way. Word of advice - this is an experienced team and when they recommend a professional it's because that person is helpful and responsive, not for some ulterior motive. We tried to do a couple things on our own that ended rather poorly due to communication issues and Chris and Michelle were able to recommend someone who was able to sweep in and save the day at the last second. Communication was extremely timely - I sent off emails at all hours of the day and night and it seemed that I always got a response within the hour (not that I expected it at that time of day!) |

| We are so glad that we chose the Richards team to sell our home! We were not hopeful that our house would sell for what we needed it to, because it was on the market with another realtor for six months without any interest what so ever. My husband met with Chris and Michelle while I was at work and they were professional, and positive that they were who we needed to contract with. He was so sure of them that I agreed to sign the contract without even meeting them. Sure enough, our home listed on a Friday, they had a showing on Saturday, and we got an offer which we accepted on Sunday. | BEST EXPERIENCE FIRST TIME BUYERS COULD ASK FOR My wife and I were renting a rundown, duplex, slum unfit to house barnyard animals in. We were determined to get out, and fast. We went on Zillow and sorted through dozens of listings before finding a place that was not only better that the current residence we occupied, but also feature a lot of the elements we really desired in our home and had room for more. We arrived at the house to meet Chris and Michelle Richard, the realtor team representing the seller. After a detailed tour and some idle time to explore the property we were sold. It had insulation, which was really a key selling point to my wife and me, coming from the stable we were currently living in. It didn’t stop there; the house itself was immaculate and well cared for by the previous owner making it incredibly appealing beyond our standard needs for warmth and shelter. We consulted Chris and Michelle about possibly representing us as well as the seller in the handling of the house, as we did not come with a realtor of our own. Aside from choosing the house, choosing to work with the Richard Team was one of the best decisions we have ever made. | Impressive. Michelle and Chris sold my house in less than 2 weeks - and it had been for sale with another realtor for 6 months. Few people during the first realtor's time knew the house was for sale. Chris and Michelle spent much time photographing and marketing the house with website(s) and so much more. They had the first open house within a few days of my signing with them and many folks went to that. And then they had another the following week-end and it was well attended. They are different in that they are incredible marketers - and communicators. I always knew what was going on. I was made to feel very comfortable. They understood it was my parents' house which had strings to my heart. They empathized without being maudlin. In addition, they found buyers who would respect the house - which was important to me. I would use them again and highly recommend them to anyone. They work for their money. I applaud that. |

| Chris and Michelle made but my first home easier than melting butter on a hot summer day. They knew what I was looking for and found it on the first day of showing. If you need someone for any step of the process they have a trustworthy and knowledgeable professional waiting to help IMMEDIATELY. They knew the ins and outs for just about everything and made sure to keep me informed the entire way. If I ever had a question they either knew the answer or would get the answer and respond within a day, usually within the hour. They found me the house that I was looking for and negotiated hard to get me an amazing price. Many realtors do this part time so you get part time service. Not these two. You can not go wrong with this TEAM and would be hard pressed to find a more committed not one, but two realtors looking to find your future home. |
