I grew up on a farm in Hampton County, SC, graduated from Estill High School and Winthrop College in 1962.

After finishing Winthrop, I went back to Estill High to teach high school math & physics -- this is where I met my husband, Boyd, and we married in 1963.

Boyd was born in Fairfax, SC, graduated Allendale-Fairfax High School and from Clemson University in 1962. He went back to him home to work in a company in which his father had been a partner. As I said we married in 1963 just in time for school to start.

After we were married, we moved to Clemson, SC where Boyd attended graduate school. He received his Master's in Math in 1965. I taught school in Liberty, SC while Boyd was in graduate school.

Then our next step was Virginia Tech where Boyd received a Ph.D. in Statistics in 1969.  During our tenure at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, I worked at home typing a text book for a Statistics Professor.  Also, both of our children were born there - one 6 weeks after we got there and one 6  weeks before we left.

Then we moved back to Clemson where Boyd was a professor in Statistics.  We were there for 2 years this time and then moved to Charleston (actually Mt. Pleasant) SC in August of 1970.  We are still here. Here in Charleston, Boyd was a professor in the Biometry Department at the Medical University of South Carolina.

I spent my time trying to be a house wife while the children were small and not in school.  What I discovered is the God did not put me here on this earth to be a "house wife" -- I am not good at it.  I would find something else to do.

I started playing tennis and got to the point of playing once or twice a day -- I would always take the children with me and they would play with other children outside the tennis courts while we mothers played.

When the youngest child started to school, I got my real estate license.

I have been a real estate broker for 32 years in the Charleston, SC marketplace. Worked for Howell & Associates for 2 years (1976-1978), then opened The Liz Loadholt Co. with my husband, Boyd.  Boyd was on the faculty at the Medical University of SC --he has his Ph.D. in Statistics from Virginia Tech.  1982 we purchased the Coldwell Banker franchise for the Charleston area and grew our company from 8 agents to 150 agents within a year.

We built the #1 real estate company in the Charleston market.  In 1986 Coldwell Banker purchased our company from us and we began working for corporate Coldwell Banker.

In 1992 we resigned from Coldwell Banker and opened up The AgentOwned Realty Co.--- this is a concept of Boyd's and mine --- one where the sales associate owns 100% of the dividend stock of the company (Boyd & Liz maintained the voting stock).

Today in 2009, we have 14 offices (Isle of Palms, Mt. Pleasant, West of the Ashley, Summerville - Trolley Rd, Summerville - Main Street,North Charleston,Park Circle, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, Santee, Manning, Wyboo,Sumter, Florence & Myrtle Beach) with approx. 450 sales associates. The Florence and Myrtle Beach offices have just opened (Feb. 2009 & March 2009 respectively).

I am in process of setting up a national broker-to-broker referral network even though I believe that referral networks are on their way out.  Most buyers come from the Internet these days.

I write and teach continuing education courses for real estate in SC. Courses for which I am certified to teach (which were also written by me) are:

"Top 10 Ways to be Disciplined" ( this one I did not write) "SC License Law & Contracts" "SC License Law" "Contracts" "Understanding How a Mortgage Broker Works" "The Code of Ethics - Your Promise of Professionalim" (NAR wrote this 2 hour course, but I rewrote it into a 4 hour course)

Boyd & I enjoy the state dance - the shag and we like to have a good time together.

-

Boyd & I have 2 children who are both involved in the real estate business with us and 3 grandchildren (20, 16, and 9) who can do no wrong.

My philosophy is: "If one advances confidently in the direction of their dreams, and endeavors to lead a life which they have imagined, they will meet with a Success unexpected in common hours." Henry David Thoreau

I am an excellent broker ---- my agents refer to me as "Moma Liz" --- this does not mean that I am not strict ---- my agents walk the straight and narrow line --we make sure that the agents are doing the best for the public --- we also have a lot of fun. We are big supporters of the Mt. Pleasant recreation department, East Cooper Community Outreach, Habitat for Humanity, and Breast Cancer Research.
