Get to Know Jean Stevenson
Like so many residents of Florida, I am transplant from the midwest...Lake County, Illinois, 40 minutes north of Chicago. I am married with grown children. I decided on Venice because I have family here, and the beautiful beaches were a draw. It’s taken me a while to adjust to the 90+ degree summers and humidity but the advantages of living on the gulf coast of Florida far outweigh the few months of hot weather.
I began my career in real estate in '93 as a residential appraiser but soon decided selling was a better fit. After years of working several for large corporate companies I got my Broker's License, went to work for myself, SOLD independently until relocating to Venice in 2006. In 2009 after settling in I got my Florida Broker’s License, joined Coldwell Banker until November of 2013 which is when I made the move to Horizon Realty International, a smaller more intimate “boutique like” real estate company that serves Sarasota County having offices in Venice, Bradenton, Sarasota and Pt. Charlotte.
Over the last 22+ years in the business I have pursued several advanced educational designations such as the GRI (Graduate of the Real Estate Institute), the ABR (Accredited Buyer's Representative) Designation, an SFR (Short Sale & Foreclosure Resource) Certification, recently a CNE Designation Certificate (Certified Negotiation Expert) In the last year I completed and received my certification as an ASP (Accredited Staging Professional). My business philosophy is that the more educated a real estate professional is, the better equipped we will be to assist our clients in the decisions they make.

| We were looking for a Real Estate agent in Venice, and after checking several reviews online came across Jean Stevenson. We found here to be very professional, knowledgeable, honest and accommodating. Jean is a very easy person to work with, and gave us information on homes we were not aware of. After we selected our home Jean followed through on every aspect of the transaction and kept us constantly updated with emails. We had a bad experience with our home inspector who missed several problems, Jean had our back, and immediately jumped into action, finally obtaining for us a full refund from the inspector. Jean is an exceptional person and Realtor who went above and beyond to make sure we had smooth and stress free transaction. | We had been looking into buying a condo in Venice, FL for many years. In Nov 2013 while on vacation we found one of Jean's condo listings and decided to look at it. Upon meeting Jean, we found her to be extremely friendly, honest, informative, very professional and most of all not "pushy". It felt as though we were longtime friends. Not something we expected from a sales agent. We took a second look just before driving back to Maryland. After arriving home we contacted Jean to make an offer on a different property. Jean was amazing. She took care of everything, sent all the documents, took additional pictures, re-measured rooms, even sent us a floor plan with cable & electrical outlets, oversaw the home inspection, kept us in the loop at all times-the list is endless. | Based on the excellent experience and glowing recommendation that a close family member had with Jean recently, it was a no-brainer when I needed a realtor in Venice. From day one, it was clear that she is a highly experienced, no nonsense real estate expert, but who is also down to earth and in touch with reality. This particular transaction was a long distance one, with me being up North. As the normal hurdles that arise with during the sale of a home, Jean stepped up to the plate every time without hesitation, even if that meant wearing a different hat.
