I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Bloomington in 2005.  I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati where I studied biochemistry.  To pay for college, I worked as a contractor and fell in love with houses.  I spent several years working with real estate investors, builders, developers and individual homeowners simply looking to improve their homes.  This helped me learn the real estate business from the inside.I spent several years after college working for the University of Cincinnati in the Department of Molecular Genetics at their School of Medicine.  I spent my free time restoring a historic property in Cincinnati and continuing to work with some of my former employers in construction.In 2003 I accepted a position in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Dartmouth School of Medicine.  I lived in New Hampshire and met a designer/builder named Chris Jackson who worked extensively in New England restoring old homes and making them more efficient.  This was my introduction to green building and sustainability.After accepting a position at Indiana University in 2005, I decided that I was going to get back into the real estate business.  I spent the next several years working to learn about green building, sustainability and retrofitting houses so that they would be more efficient.  I obtained a home energy raters certification in 2008 through RESNET.  I also became a Realtor and joined Indiana's largest residential real estate firm, Carpenter Realtors.
